EFCC arraigns NNPC officials over Fuel Diversion


The EFCC has arraigned the duo of Munzali Ahmed and Alex Bala before Honourable Justice Idrissa Kolo of the Federal High Court, Kano.

The arraignment of the duo is based on a one count charge bordering on diversion of petrol by the accused persons. They were arrested by EFCC Operatives Special Task Force in March 2016 following intelligence reports of their nefarious activities. 


A truck of 40,000 litres of petrol with registration number GME804XA belonging to the NNPC Retail billed for Bamaina outlet in Birnin Kudu local government area of Jigawa state was diverted to Munira Petroleum Ltd and Danmarke Investment Ltd both in Zaria, Kaduna state. 

An investigation by the anti-graft body further revealed that the petrol was sold at a higher price instead of the approved pump price of N86/litre as at then. 

In his ruling, Justice Kolo ordered for the duo to be remanded in prison custody till June 28, 2016, for ruling on the bail application.  

Meanwhile, Air Vice Marshal Ojuawo, a serving officer of the Nigerian Air Force facing prosecution by the EFCC, came to court today, June 23, dressed in his full Air Force regalia.
