The Nigerian government was supposed to hold presidential elections this past weekend, which presented voters with the dispiriting choice of keeping a lousy incumbent or returning to power a former autocratic leader. Now they will have to wait at least six weeks to cast votes.

WHAT!!! Clergy nabbed with Drugs, Confess He prayed over it in his Church


What is this world turning to self? Everybody want to make quick money not minding the consequences, even a Pastor, Haba! A resident pastor and senior prophet of the Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim, Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos State, Prophet Michael Raji, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), with illicit drugs worth N609 million.

Raji was banned at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, on an outward flight to South Africa.

The 60-year-old pastor, in his confession to officials of the NDLEA, said that he hid the drugs in his church for four months after he received it from a friend, while he prayed for his successful smuggling trip.

The seized drugs concealed inside large bags of foodstuff were found to contain 91kg of Methamphetamine and 83kg of Ephedrine with an estimated street value of N609 million.

Singer Lesley Gore died at age 68


According to Bang Showbiz, Lesley Gore has died aged 68. The 'It's My Party' hitmaker sadly passed away on Monday (02.16.15) at the New York University Langone Medical Center in Manhattan after losing her battle with lung cancer, her partner of 33 years Lois Sasson has confirmed.

The blonde beauty had a long and successful career after she climbed into the number one hotspot in the US charts with her catchy track 'It's My Party' in 1963.

She then continued to score in the top five with her songs 'Judy's Turn to Cry', 'She's a Fool' and 'You Don't Own Me'.

The Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, on Monday said the ministry has arrested three Arik Air staff for stealing fuel from an aircraft.

Mr. Chidoka said on his official Facebook page that the trio of Blessing Dugbe, Samuel Asuquo and Isaac Ajakaiye were arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, during a security patrol operation on Sunday at about around 3 a.m.

Mr. Chidoka said the trio were stealing Jet A1 fuel from Arik Air plane, with registration number: 5N-MID into six jerry cans for sales at cheaper price to other unsuspecting airline operators.

Govt Oshiomole Calls For The Arrest Of Politicians Buying PVCs


Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has called on the Police and other security agencies in the state to investigate and arrest some desperate politicians, who he accused of purchasing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from eligible voters.

Oshiomole made the call, Monday, when he received the new Commissioner of Police for the state, Samuel Damilola Adegbuyi, who visited him in his office.

“Everyday, I hear reports about some desperate politicians buying PVCs from people, particularly villagers and even non-villagers, sometimes for as much as N5,000,” the governor said.

Report: Central Africa leaders plan Boko Haram offensive


Leaders from Central Africa have met in Cameroon to finalise plans for a military offensive against Boko Haram fighters in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.

Representatives of 10 nations met in the capital Yaounde on Monday under the aegis of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and committed to spend $86m to fight Boko Haram.

They also urged the international community to provide more support to counter the armed group.

Nigeria-based Boko Haram has widened its attacks into neighbouring nations, notably Cameroon and Chad, in a conflict estimated to have claimed a total 13,000 lives since 2009.

Prof Wole Soyinka’s Sounds Warning To Nigerians Ahead Of The Presidential Election


Nobel Laureate Prof Wole Soyinka has called on Nigerians to be prepared to deal return to the trenches if a wrong choice is made in the March 28 Presidential election.

“All I know is that if a wrong choice is made, we must all be prepared and we should start preparing to go back to the trenches whatever it takes,” Soyinka told BBC’s Will Ross in an interview.

Asked about his view of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari, who he wrote about in his memoir, Soyinka said his regime as head of state was second to only the Abacha regime in terms of brutality. However, he admits that people change.
