LASTMA official, who slumped on traffic duty, dies


The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who we report that slumped while controlling traffic on Ishaga Road in the Idi-Araba, Mushin area on Saturday, has died.

Kazeem Lawal, was brought in dead to the Randle Hospital, Surulere, where his colleagues had rushed him.

Lewis Hamilton kickout of Royal Box of Wimblerdon cause of inappropriate dressing


Lewis Hamilton kicked out of the Royal Box of Wimbledon because his dressing was not smart enough. 

According to further report, the 30-year-old Formula One racer - who was spotted wearing a floral shirt, hat and chinos - attended the Wimbledon Tennis Men's Final between Roger Federer and Novac Djokovic on Sunday but was told to leave the exclusive area because he was not wearing suitable attire, such as a jacket or tie.

A spokesperson for Lewis confirmed: ''Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding the dress code at Wimbledon, Lewis is very disappointed to have missed the men's final.''

Arsene Wenger hails Manchester United's double swoop


Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that Manchester United have signed "two top class players" in the form of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.

The Red Devils have today completed a double swoop for the midfield pair, which will boost Louis van Gaal's options in the centre of the park significantly.

Schweinsteiger has a vast level of experience, while Schneiderlin's performances for the Saints in the Premier League have been met with widespread praise in recent years.

Man United complete double swoop of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger


Manchester United today announce the signing of both Germany International Bastian Schweinsteiger and French Midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin from Bayern Munich and Southampton respectively.

Bastian Schweinsteiger completed his move to United after penning down a three year contracts for a fee of £15m while Morgan Schneiderlin signed a four year deal for a fee in the region of £25million.

Guess this young lad couldn't bear the fact that he won't be seeing Robin Van Persie in the popular Red Devil Uniform come next season. Well I guess this is much more better as Van Persie won't be playing in the same league with his former club. He will be playing far away Turkey and only the UEFA Competition could bring them to face each other. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Dies at 55


President of Japanese popular gaming company Nintendo, Satoru Iwata has died at the age of 55 following a battle with cancer. 

Iwata first joined Nintendo in the 1980s, working on games including Balloon Fight, Earth Boundand the Kirby franchise, working his way up the company before taking on the top post in 2002 following the retirement of Hiroshi Yamauchi, the company’s president since 1949, becoming only the fourth president in Nintendo’s history and the first to be unrelated to the Yamauchi family. Two years ago, he became CEO of Nintendo of America, Inc.

Chelsea Complete Signing of Asmir Begovic From Stoke City


Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Asmir Begovic from Stoke City in a statement on their ​official website, revealing that the stopper will join on a four-year deal.
"I am very happy to be joining Chelsea FC. After speaking at length to the manager, I feel like I can develop here and be an important part of this team. I am looking forward to meeting up with the team on Wednesday for the pre-season tour."
Begovic will be given the vacant number 1 jersey, formerly inhabited by the departed Petr Cech, with Thibaut Courtois keeping his number 13 shirt. The fee hasn't been announced, but is thought to be in the region of £8m

FCTA Orders The Sealing Of Properties In Abuja District


Due to an alleged failure of property owners in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to comply with a re-decoration order, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has obtained a court order to seal-off 36 premises in Asokoro District. 

FCTA’s Department of Development Control, had previously issued a re-decoration order to owners of the 36 houses. The order was given by Folashade Oyekan, Presiding Judge of the Mobile Court, set up to try redecoration offenders. Oyekan also ordered that five of the defaulters who were present in court, should be given a two-week grace to redecorate their premises or risk being sealed-off. 

Group Asks Ekweremadu To ‘Step Aside’ As Deputy Senate President


A Southeast pressure group has asked Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu to “step aside” to allow another senator from the zone replace him.

The African League Organisation (ALO), which demanded Ekweremadu’s resignation while addressing journalists in Abuja yesterday, alleged that as Deputy Senate President in the past eight years, he had been passive as no tangible progress had been made in the Southeast that could be linked to his name.
