Indian-American Scientist develop Super Condoms that kill HIV virus


Report says a team of Indian-American scientists at the Texas A&M University Health Science Center has develop a new hydrogel-based condom that contains antioxidants. Not only does it contain plant-based antioxidants, which kills the HIV-virus in case of condom breakage but it also uses antioxidants to enhance pleasure. Did someone just smiled about this development?

“I live in a polygamous relationship and I’m very happy. I think my husband taking a second wife is a huge blessing to our family,” says Belinda, whose 61-year-old husband, Thom, recently “spiritually” married and is expecting a child with 19-year-old, Reba. “I told Thom that I was OK with it and that I thought it was a beautiful thing.”

Diezani Alison-Madueke is Alive - Family, Lawyer


Family members of a former Nigerian Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, have dismissed reports that she is dead.

Three young Nigerians to receive awards from The Queen in 2016


It has been announced that three young people from Nigeria are among 60 young people from across the Commonwealth who are being recognised as exceptional leaders in their community. These 60 young people will receive a prestigious Queen’s Young Leaders Award.

The Award, which will be presented in London by Her Majesty The Queen in 2016, and is part of The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme, celebrates the achievements of young people who are taking the lead to transform the lives of others and make a lasting difference in their communities.

CAN protests moves to list Nigeria among Arab nations to fight ISIS


The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has protested moves by the Saudi Arabian government to tag Nigeria as a Muslim country in its yet to be formed coalition of 34 Muslim/Arab countries to fight terrorism. Saudi's Foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir yesterday announced that Saudi Arabia has formed a coalition of 34 mainly Muslim countries including powers such as Egypt and Turkey to coordinate a fight against "terrorist organisations".

Ciara's 'I Bet' song goes platinum

Floyd Mayweather Jnr spends $1.1m on Hublot diamond wristwatch


The retired boxing champion who got about $300m from fights this year, splashed about $1.1m on a diamond wristwatch during his trip to Dubai. Mayweather, 38, posed alongside staff members at a Hublot store in Dubai to celebrate his new diamond encrusted wristwatch and Hublot posted the picture on their official Twitter handle.

Raymond Dokpesi calls for prison reforms after his stay in Kuje prison


Raymond Dokpesi has called for a national prison reform. This comes after his stay in the Kuje prison where he was remanded until he met his N200m bail condition. After his release yesterday, Dokpesi attended the AIT Christmas party where he charged the management of his TV station to make Prison reforms a burning issue. He described the situation of things in the prison as appalling.

Amos Olaniyan on October 6, 2015, the Senate has ordered the reinstatement, promotion and payment of all dues to Sgt Olaniyan, who was verbally suspended from the Nigerian Police Force 21 years ago.

This follows the consideration and adoption of recommendations of the Report of the Senator Sam Anyanwu-led Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition that investigated the suspension of Sgt. Olaniyan from the Force.

Shiite Leader not in Army’s Custody - Chief of Army Staff


The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai says the leader of the Shiite group, Sheik Ibrahim Zakzaky who was earlier arrested by the military, is no longer in their custody as he has been handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution. Buratai said this when he received ‎a delegation from the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) at the Army Headquarters, Abuja yesterday.

INEC announce date for rerun of Bayelsa governorship


INEC has announced that the Bayelsa governorship rerun election in Southern Ijaw LGA will take place on January 9th. The electoral body declared the December 5th state governorship election inconclusive after cancelling the votes in the local government following cases of violence and election irregularities. Results from this rerun will determine who becomes the next governor of the state. The main contenders in the election are the incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson of PDP and former governor Timpre Sylva of APC.

FG promises to pay salaries of Federal civil servants before Christmas


The office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) has promised that the Federal government will endeavor to pay the salaries of all Federal civil servants before the Christmas holiday. The Director of Funds in the office of the Accountant General, Mohammed Dikwa gave the assurance during an interview in Abuja yesterday December 16th
"I want to assure all Federal civil servants that, God willing, they will get their salaries before Christmas because we will try as much as possible to pay the salaries before that time"he said

Sacked PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus proceed to Appeal Court


The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus has revealed his intention to proceed to the Appeal Court to challenge the ruling of the High Court, asking him to vacate his seat as chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Secondus and the party, PDP in the appeal dated December 16, and filed by a senior advocate, Emeka‎ Etiaba, urged the court of appeal to set aside the entire judgement of the high court.

Switzerland published list containing 2600 dormant bank accounts worth $44.6 million


A list of 2600 unclaimed dormant bank accounts was made public yesterday Wednesday, December 16, by Swiss Bankers Association which contains over 2,600 accounts and 80 safe deposit boxes.

The total holding in these accounts is estimated at about 44 million Swiss franc ($44.6 million). The online list reveals that Swiss banks currently have around CHF44 million ($44.6 million) of unclaimed assets held in their vaults. In addition, some 80 safe-deposit boxes containing unknown sums of valuables have been listed as dormant.
