Sergio Ramos heartbroken to see Jese leave for PSG

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has said he is sad to see his friend Jese Rodriguez leave and wished him success at new club Paris Saint-Germain.

Jese, 23, came through the ranks at the Bernabeu and has been a senior squad member for the last four seasons.

Earlier this summer, coach Zinedine Zidane advised the attacker to look for more playing time elsewhere but added that he expected him to be “returning home” in 12 months.

There was speculation that Madrid wanted to organise a loan deal to ensure that happened, but Jese signed a five-year contract with PSG and moved for a reported fee of €25 million.

Ahead of his team’s UEFA Supercup game against Sevilla in Norway on Tuesday, Ramos told a news conference: “I am especially close to him. I always tried to give him good advice, and I wish him a great future.
“He always tried to play his best, and we are proud of what he gave. These things happen in football. It is a pity he is leaving us.”
Hinting that Jese could return to the Bernabeu at some stage, he said: Strange things happen in football.”

In recent years, Madrid have sold homegrown youngsters including Dani Carvajal to Bayer Leverkusen and Alvaro Morata to Juventus, only to later buy them back.

However, RMC Sport reported that such an arrangement was not permitted in France.
