The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) in Abia State has arrested two suspects carrying 20, 000 litres of crude oil in a truck on their way to Imo State from Port Harcourt

State Commandant, Dr.Benito Eze, said the command would continue to ensure that the oil thieves are chased out of the state as officers of the command are working tirelessly to handle the various tactics deployed by the oil vandals crippling the economy and syphoning the money meant for the entire country through their criminal activities.

Mr Eze said the truck was intercepted at Obehie in Ukwa West Local Government Area when a stop and search surveillance team of NSCDC along Aba-Port Harcourt expressway directed the truck to move to NSCDC exhibit station at Isi-alangwa LGA for a proper search.

After offloading the contents of the truck one after the other, the hidden tank containing stolen crude oil was found.

One of the suspects, Banjo Ayo a mechanic by profession claimed he was not aware of the contents of the truck while his accomplice Charles Nwachukwu confessed he was forced into the business by hunger.
