IBB hails President Buhari’s courage, determination over recapturing of Sambisa


The recapturing Sambisa Forest has excited former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida also known as IBB.

Highly delighted IBB in a statement by Media Office of the former Head State said: “it is a sign of relief, that the Military has finally smocked out Boko Haram terrorists from their notorious enclave of Sambisa Forest” He said.

General Babangida also salute the courage and determination of President Muhammadu Buhari, Army chiefs as well as armed men and women and other security personnel for their sacrifice for the painful liberation of Sambisa Forest and adjoining abode of Boko Haram.

Guru Maharaji gives President Buhari six ways of rescuing the economy


Satguru Maharaji, the founder of One Love Family sect, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to constitute a Price Control Board in order to ameliorate the impact of the current economic recession on ordinary Nigerians.

He also told newsmen in Ibadan on Sunday that a price control mechanism would strengthen the Naira.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the sect leader spoke at a news conference which was part of activities to mark his 69th birthday.

APC Chairman in Ekiti denies insulting Pastor Adeboye


The Chairman of Ekiti chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) Olajide Awe, has denied report circulating online in which he was reported to have denigrated the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye over the comments made by the cleric during his visit to Governor Ayodele Fayose over the weekend.

The APC Chairman in a statement on Monday said he did not speak or issue any statement condemning commendations given to the State Governor by the RCCG General Overseer described the stories circulating in the social media as deliberate lie as APC would never dabble into any controversial issue involving religious leaders.

Boko Haram leader arrested In Lagos


There seem to be no hiding place for Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria as one of their leaders who escaped from Borno State and settled-in in Lagos has now been arrested.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, told journalists in Maiduguri that the Nigerian Army has resolved to go after all fleeing commanders of the terrorists.

General Buratai also asked soldiers in the northeast to pursue the fleeing terrorists and intercept them.

Singer George Michael Dead at 53


British singer George Michael, who rose to fame during the 1980s as part of the pop duo Wham! before launching a Grammy-winning solo career, died Sunday, his publicist confirms.

He was 53.

19-year-old Rahma Haruna, whose limb stopped developing when she was 6 months have died yesterday, 25th December.

The Kano state born has been living in a bowl all her life, which her family transport her around in.  Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar shared the news on Facebook.

Abuja | Father strangles 14-year-old son, attempts to poison daughter


A 44-year-old man, identified as Sunday Ibrahim, has alleged strangled his 14-year-old son, Musa Ibrahim, to death, following the dissolution of the couple’s marriage by a court in Abuja.

His act, which happened in Kabusa village in Apo area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, was said to be an ‘unimaginable show of heartlessness and an extreme case of hatred for his ex-spouse’, the Sun reports.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP, Mohammed Mustapha, confirmed the incident on Friday, saying the court granted the ex-wife custody of the couple’s children.

Federal Government says MTN has Paid N80bn Of N330bn Fine


The Federal Government says MTN had paid N80bn of the N330bn fine imposed on it for failing to deactivate more than five million unregistered SIM cards.

The Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, said that the company paid the sum for the first year.

It will be recalled that MTN was initially fined $5.2bn (N1.04tn) for failing to deactivate more than five million unregistered SIM cards but was later reduced to N330bn.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulraheed Akanbi, has said he will not appear before a Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo, Osun State, which on Tuesday last week, issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

The monarch also declared that he was not involved in Internet fraud, known as Yahoo Yahoo, contrary to the allegation against him in a case before the court.

The Magistrate’s court, presided over by Mr. Olusola Aluko, had, on December 20, issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the traditional ruler for refusing to appear in court in a case instituted against him by the Oluwo of Iwo Oke, Oba Kadiri Adeoye.

7.6 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Chile Resort Region, 21,000 Homes Lose Power


A major 7.6 magnitude earthquake jolted southern Chile on Sunday, prompting thousands to evacuate coastal areas, but no fatalities or major damage were reported in the tourism and salmon farming region.

Chile\'s National Emergency Office (ONEMI) lifted both the evacuation order and a tsunami watch three hours after the Christmas Day quake struck, telling nearly 5,000 people who had evacuated they could return to their homes.

Onemi said one bridge in the area was impassable as crews worked to restore electricity to 21,000 homes without power.
