Jurgen Klopp hailed his Borussia Dortmund players for the way in which they responded to the concession of a "slapstick" early goal in Friday's "big win" over Mainz.

Struggling BVB found themselves 1-0 down after just under 60 seconds of play at Signal Iduna Park, with Elkin Soto netting from outside the area in spectacular fashion after a defensive mix-up involving centre-half Neven Subotic and goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller.

Boko Haram Top Leader "Captain" Arrested in Niger

The Nigerien military has reportedly arrested the mastermind of different attacks by Boko Haram in Niger’s Diffa region which is near the Nigerian border.

According to Niger's Anfani private radio station, the sect member identified as Kaka Bounou, was a trader based in Diffa and goes by the alias, Captain, within the sect group. He'd been arrested several times in the past and released. 

West Ham Andy Carroll Out of the Season with a Crucial Knee Injury

Andy Carroll's troublesome knees have curtailed yet another season, as he gets set for surgery next week.

West Ham are set to be without Andy Carroll for the rest of the season as he gets set to undergo knee surgery.

Carroll sustained the injury during West Ham's 0-0 draw at Southampton on Wednesday, but remained on the field until the end of the game.

The striker was seen leaving St Mary's Stadium on crutches, and manager Sam Allardyce was initially quoted as saying he would be out for at least four weeks.

Report: Boko Haram launches first deadly attack in Chad

Nigeria-based Boko Haram fighters have carried out their first attack inside Chad, killing five people in an early morning strike on a village and military camp on the shores of Lake Chad, a security source has said.

Friday's pre-dawn attack left four civilians and one soldier dead and most of the village of Ngouboua torched before the fighters were pushed back, the source told the AFP news agency on condition of anonymity.

The attackers struck after crossing the lake from Nigeria's Baga in large canoes and set ablaze nearly two-thirds of Ngouboua - about 20km east of the Nigerian border - where around 7,000 Nigerians have taken refuge.

Breaking News: Kidnapped Plateau ex-gov Dariye’s father rescue Soldiers (UPDATED)

Men of the Special Task Force have rescued Pa Dariye Defwan, father of former governor of Plateau state, Chief Joshua Dariye.

The police confirmed his release on Friday in a telephone interview with PREMIUM TIMES in Jos.

According to the police spokesperson in Plateau State, Abuh Emmanuel, four persons were arrested in connection with the abduction.

Mr. Dariye’s father was kidnapped last Saturday night at his village in Mushere, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau state. Police had said the victim was abducted by nine suspects.

Nigeria Flying Eagles head to Ghana for double friendly

According to Premium Times, the Nigeria U20 team, the Flying Eagles, will depart for Ghana Friday from Lagos as they take on their Ghanaian counterparts; the Black Satellites in a two-legged friendly.

Police AIG Mbu: "We’ll kill 20 for each police life lost during elections"

From Premium Times comes this report that, the newly posted Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Joseph Mbu, on Thursday declared that the elections in his zone will be “fire for fire” if politicians play any pranks.

The controversial police boss made the declaration at a meeting with police of the Ogun State Command at its Eleweran Headquarters, Abeokuta.

With so much story emerging from the health situation of the only daughter of Late Singer Whitney Houston, it has now been discovered that Bobbi Kristina Brown was allegedly involved in a car crash four days before she was found unconscious in a bath tub.

The 21-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston was driving her Jeep Liberty on January 27 when she lost control, crossed lanes into oncoming traffic and smashed into another vehicle in Roswell, Georgia, the police told UsMagazine.com.

The nasty collision reportedly left two people - the driver she hit and a passenger in her car - in hospital with unknown injuries.

Updates: Boko Haram attacks on Borno Villages Lives Over 20 Killed

Boko Haram insurgents, yesterday, attacked three Borno communities, killing over 20 persons. The three communities were Biu, Alkideow and Mbuta.

In Biu, the largest Borno town in the southern part of the state, about 187 kilometres south of Maiduguri, the state capital, an explosion occurred in a crowded market, reportedly killing 15 people with 21 others injured. Witnesses said the injured persons and corpses were being evacuated.

“A suicide bomber today (yesterday) launched an attack on innocent marketers on Biu plateau,” a resident of the town, Mwajim Ali Gana told Vanguard.

Visage Group Lead Singer, Steve Strange dies

A big lost to the Music industry! Steve Strange, the lead singer of 80s pop group Visage, has died. The 55-year-old Welshman passed away from a heart attack in Egypt, his record label has confirmed.

August Day Recordings label manager Marc Green revealed the star's death came as a shock to all.

"We are extremely saddened to announce that Steve Strange died at 11.15am local time on Thursday February 12 in Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital, Egypt," Green said in a statement.

“Steve died in his sleep of heart failure. Steve's family, band members and friends are all distraught at this sudden news of his untimely death. Steve's family request privacy at this extremely difficult time."

CBS News Correspondent Bob Simon Killed in Manhattan Car Crash

So sad! New report from gawker confirm that Longtime 60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon reportedly died in a car crash Wednesday night. He was 73.

CBS confirmed the news but did not give much detail, saying only that Simon "died suddenly tonight in a car accident in New York City."

According to the Daily News, Simon was in the back of a livery cab that rear ended a Mercedes and slammed into a median on the West Side Highway in Manhattan Wednesday night.

Both Simon and the driver had to be cut out of the car but according to the paper, the driver was not seriously injured.

The Post also spoke to the Mercedes driver, who claims Simon's driver was driving erratically.

"He swerved into me," the driver said. "He hit me and he looked like he lost control of the car."

"I'd rather go naked than wear fur," is written in pink lettering, with the tagline, "Be comfortable in your own skin and let animals keep theirs," appearing in white underneath.

PETA UK has tweeted its support for the campaign.
