Two Players Down as Arsene Wenger boys defeat Leicester City
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is concerned with the injuries to two of his players after their 2-1 win over Leicester City on Tuesday, according to reports from ESPN.
Midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez both limped off the field during the victory against the Foxes, and Wenger is unsure of their status ahead of their next league fixture.
Ramsey only came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute, but then had to be taken off just nine minutes later.
And according to Frenchman, it looks like the Welsh star is suffering a recurrence of the hamstring injury that has kept him out of the majority of the season.
“It looks like it,” he said.
“I don’t know how bad it is yet. Just visually, it didn’t look good. When a guy stops straight away and sits down, that’s not good news.
“There’s a recurrence now of a few muscular injuries and it’s difficult — we haven’t found out why. I basically left him out today because I wanted to be cautious with him. I had to bring him on — I had a hesitation between [Mathieu] Flamini and him — because we lacked a a bit of offensive power. It was not the best of decisions.
“Last year was a thigh but this year it’s a recurrence of hamstrings. You cannot say it’s no worry because after the player doesn’t play with the freedom in mind.”
On the other hand, summer signing Alexis Sanchez also just returned to action after missing the last two fixtures with a hamstring strain, but now seems to have suffered a knock to his knee.
“Sanchez got a knock on his knee,” Wenger said.
“I don’t think he was himself. From the moment he got this knock, he was never really comfortable. I don’t know for how long he will be out and whether he will be out or not. I haven’t seen the doctor.
“I was ready to take him off at half-time but he said, ‘no it’s OK, I can go on.’ When I watched him play I thought, ‘No, that hasn’t [got better].’ Sometimes when you run it off it’s just a kick but he became worse and I didn’t see him in the second half.”
The Gunners will be content that this weekend’s game is an FA Cup clash against Middlesbrough at home, which could see Wenger rest some of his players before their Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace in 10 days time.

Report: UN worried about fate of 125,000 Nigerian refugees in Niger
The UN food agency on Tuesday voiced concern for the 125,000 Nigerian refugees who have fled to southeast Niger, where Boko Haram militants have launched attacks in recent days.
"The World Food Programme is particularly concerned by the attacks in the north of Nigeria which are spreading to Niger, forcing thousands of people to flee," WFP spokeswoman Elisabeth Byrs said.
Byrs stressed "the appalling situation" in which refugees live in the Diffa region, where the population has almost doubled and food stocks are becoming scarce.
Nigeria's Islamist Boko Haram group has since Friday launched three large-scale attacks in the Diffa region, which borders the northeastern Nigerian state of Borno where the militants control large swathes of territory.
