Chief Justice of Nigeria Says They Have Proof Of Evidence Against Suspended Judges

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Mahmud Mohammed, revealed yesterday that the judges facing allegations of corruption were asked to step down because it was confronted with proof of evidence against some of them.

The judges were arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) between October 7 and 8, following which the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and some senior lawyers asked the judges to stop presiding over cases, pending their trial.

Buhari Shows Oshiomhole Where He Was Detained For 40 Months during 1985 Military Coup

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday told Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Governor-elect, Godwin Obaseki and other delegates in Benin City that he spent 40 months in detention in the state during the 1985 military coup.

President Buhari said this while on a two-day working visit to Edo state to launch projects completed by the Governor Adams Oshiomhole-led administration.

CAN calls for justice over woman killed on alleged blasphemy

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged the Kano State government and the inspector general of Police to bring to book those responsible for the alleged killing of a Christian woman in the city.

CAN said it was deeply sad by the news of the “release without trial of the five suspects accused of killing a 74-year-old Christian woman in Kano, Mrs Bridget Agbahime”.

She was murdered sometime in June.

NNPC: President Buhari has not asked us to hike pump price

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says there is no plan to increase the price of premium motor spirit (PMS) above N145.

The corporation said there was no time it met with President Muhammadu Buhari to push for a hike in the pump price to N150 per litre.

Police reveal why they released man who allegedly raped goat to death

Police have explained why they released the man accused of raping a goat to death. A middle-aged man identified as Afolabi Bamidele was over the weekend allegedly caught having sex with a goat in Irun Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Femi Joseph, who spoke with “The Nation” on phone said they decided to release Bamidele when his complainants refused to show up at the police station.
