A 3ft 7ins groom took his own specially-made stepladder to church so he could stand next to his bride on his wedding day. James Lusted, 28, who has a rare genetic dwarfism condition, used a four-step wooden ladder to climb up next to his 5ft 7in bride Chloe.

The pair then stood eye-to-eye as they exchanged marriage vows in front of family and friends. The newlyweds then shared a kiss, as Mr Lusted stood on the step.

Ten bodies have been found in a dinghy off the Libyan coast - prompting the launch of a huge rescue effort to save more than 2,000 stricken migrants. Some 15 rescue operations took place today in a bid to save the 2,100 migrants stranded on boats off the coast.

Trump returned to the stage a few minutes later to continue his rally speech, saying “We will never be stopped.” American voters will head to the polling stations to elect the next US president on Tuesday.

There is a growing concern in military circles over the fitness or otherwise of many of the cadets undergoing training course in the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), as well as several others recruited into the armed forces.

The latest revelation followed the death of four cadets who reportedly died in the nations’ premier military institution, early October and three weeks after the resumption of their training.

The NDA, established in the 1960s, runs a five-year course, four of which is purely for academics with little military training, leading to the award of B.Sc. or B.A. honours while the remaining one year is for full military training.

A man in Cajamarca, Peru, fell asleep on the edge of a river while almost naked after getting very drunk. The man, named locally as Jorge Luis Villanueva Anticona, was spotted by shocked locals, who had believed he was dead, while lying submerged in the mud.

They alerted police, who arrived on the scene and acted quickly to pull him out of the river Mashcon. Jorge Luis, 25, was then hosed down and taken to hospital by police.
