"I won't defend Donald Trump, will focus on keeping majority" - Paul Ryan tells Republicans

House Speaker Paul Ryan told members of the House Republican Conference Monday morning that he won’t defend Donald Trump anymore and won’t campaign with him and will focus over the next 30 days on keeping the House majority, according to a Republican on a conference call.

“You all need to do what’s best for you in your district,” Ryan told his members, according to a readout provided by the Republican source. Ryan did not, however, say that he was rescinding his endorsement of Trump.

Federal Government secures $1.3bn SMEs deal with World Bank, others

The Federal Government over the weekend reached an agreement with the World Bank Group and other development partners for the release of about $1.3billion for the funding of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with the planned takeoff of the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN).

Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, broke this news at a post event press briefing in Washington DC, USA, and stated that upon commencement, DBN would serve as a conduit for government intervention in SMEs and medium sized enterprises as part of efforts to achieve inclusive growth.

Junaid Mohammed blast Buhari says He is a tyrant and despot

Junaid Mohammed has blasted President Muhammadu Buhari and his government as “clueless”, “confused”, and “biased” in a recent interview in which he also branded the president a tyrant and a despot.

A Nigeria man might eventually get his name on the Guinness Book of record for the number of arrests made in a year for various crimes.

A 41-year-old man arrested by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police for stealing the phone of his helper has pleaded that he should be assisted from going to prison the eighth time. 

The suspect, Emmanuel Oyewunmi, from Ikale, Ondo State, was arrested by the operatives on Friday night at Ojodu-Berger Bus Stop for stealing N600 and a phone from a bus driver and a passenger.

Obaseki slams Ize-Iyamu says 'You lied, God didn’t speak to you about becoming governor'

Edo State Governor-Elect, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has described as lies, the claim by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the just concluded governorship election in the state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, that God told him to pursue and recover his mandate, which he said was stolen from him by the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Obaseki urged Ize-Iyamu to “stop deceiving the people because he is only pursuing his ambition and so should stop mentioning God.”

But reacting, Ize-Iyamu said that Obaseki was not God and does not know God. Ize – Iyamu, who spoke through one of his aides, Efe Igbinovi, said: “Obaseki is not God, he does not know God, so he has no right to question Ize-Iyamu’s closeness to God. He should face the problems confronting him.”

PDP says decision of FG to withdraw forgery case laughable

The Peoples Democratic Party has described the withdrawal of the forgery case against the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, as laughable.

It said that the withdrawal of the case, which also involved both the Clerk and Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, should not be celebrated.

It will be recalled that the Federal Government, on Thursday, withdrew the case, which was brought before Justice Yusuf Halilu of the Jabi Division of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, through the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice against the accused persons.
