Southampton made it six games unbeaten in all competitions as they held Premier League champions Leicester City to a 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium, though Charlie Austin missed a golden chance for the visitors in the second half.

After an indifferent start to the season, Claude Puel's side have been in terrific form of late and frustrated Leicester for large spells of Sunday's clash, with Austin hitting the woodwork early on.

Claudio Ranieri's men did look dangerous in parts, with Jamie Vardy guilty of squandering a gilt-edged chance before half-time.

CBN Governor praises Buhari, security agencies over wife’s rescue

Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has expressed gratitude to God, President Muhammadu Buhari, and security agencies for the rescue of his wife, Margaret, from the hands of kidnappers.

He was, however, silent on whether any ransom was paid to secure her release.

Mrs. Emefiele was abducted last Thursday by kidnappers along Agbor-Benin road and taken to an unknown destination.

24 soldiers allegedly captured by Niger Delta Militants

Members of the Concerned Militant Leaders (CML) of Niger Delta region have declared that 24 soldiers captured during their encounter with military men on Friday morning would not be released.

Also, the CML debunked the claim by the military that seven suspected militants were shot dead during the exchange of gunfire, which occurred along Bakassi Peninsula waterways.

Spokesperson of the dreaded militant group, simply identified as General Ben, stated yesterday, that he did not lose any of his combatants, adding that members of the public should discountenance the report.

These are some of the alleged photos of over 50 Nigerian students and other students arrested in Turkey over the attempted coup.

They were arrested alongside some citizens of the country. The detained Nigerians were all escorted to a room and their passport confiscated by Turkish police, according to Thisday.

The detainees are mainly students of Fathi University, a private university in metropolitan Buyukcekmece district of Istanbul.

Police impede mum from jumping in front of train with her 9-year-old daughter

A suicidal mom, 43-year-old Gabriella Georgescu, holding her 9-year-old daughter threatened to jump in front of an oncoming subway train in Midtown, New York on Friday. According to the Police, Georgesc was raving and ranting about killing herself and her child as she stood close to the edge of the platform at 59th St. and Lexington Ave. just before 5 p.m.

Alarmed passengers and an MTA worker who heard her threats alerted the police. A plainclothes police officer arrived to find Georgescu leaning near the gap as a northbound 6 train rolled into the station, according to cops.

6-year-old boy dies days after South Carolina School Shooting

A 6-year-old boy who was critically wounded in a school shooting died Saturday, days after a 14-year-old boy opened fire on a school playground, authorities said.

Jacob Hall had been fighting for his life at a hospital after a bullet struck him in a main artery in his leg, causing him a major brain injury due to the loss of blood. Jacob died about 1 p.m. Saturday, and an autopsy will be done Sunday, Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said. The hospital will release more details about his death, the coroner said.

38-year-old alleged rapist attempts suicide in court

A mild drama at the Rivers State Judiciary complex in Port Harcourt Friday when a suspect charged to court for allegedly raping his daughter tried to commit suicide within the court premises.

The 38-year old man, Ibinabo Franklin, is facing a charge of sexual assault and incest before the Port Harcourt Magistrates’ Court.

The accused who confessed of having carnal knowledge of his 17-year old daughter was remanded in prison custody by Chief Magistrate F.N. Amanze.
