Budget padding is part of our constitutional duty – Reps member

The Chairman House of Representative Committee on Legislative Compliance, Abiodun Olasupo has insisted the House of Representatives have done no wrong in the current budget padding controversy.

Olasupo stated this on Wednesday during the inspection of some zonal intervention projects and federal government projects within his constituency in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State.

He stated that budget padding remains a constitutional responsibility of the legislative arm of government.

Longtime ESPN Host, John Saunders Dies at 61

John Saunders, one of ESPN’s beloved hosts for nearly 30 years, has died, the network announced on Wednesday, August 10. He was 61.

The sports journalist, who joined the ESPN team in December 1986, was best known for his coverage of college football, basketball and the NHL. He was also a news anchor on the Sunday night edition of SportsCenter during the NFL season and previously hosted The Sports Reporters.

The man identified as Stephen Gichuhi, ran over his wife with a car in Nairobi.

The woman, Margaret Wambui, who has been detained at Nairobi Women's Hospital for four months over an unpaid bill, accused her husband of running over her with a minibus after he accused her of infidelity.

A murder investigation has been launched after a teenager was stabbed to death at a house party in Peckham, London, days before he was due to go to Nigeria on holiday with his family.

Leoandro Osemeke popularly known as Showkey, a 16-year-old musician was found with knife wounds to his upper body after police were called to a disturbance near a large house party at Colgrove Road on Friday August 5, at 7.19pm. Despite paramedics' efforts to save him, the teen died at the scene.

Three men impersonating EFCC Chairman apprehended

According to a statement, the Enugu Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested 3 people for impersonation and attempt to obtain money by false pretext from the Anambra State Secretary to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Casmir I. Ajulu.

The arrested persons are Chukwuma Charles Eze, Ogechi Emeka Okwuosa and Anokwuru Miriam Iheoma.

A press statement issued by the EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Ujuwaren,  said that arrest of the trio came on the heels of a petition that a text message was purportedly sent on 26th March 2016 by the Acting Executive Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu to Ajulu’s phone requesting him to send a list of names of House of Representatives designates that want their Certificate of Return for the last election held in Anambra State.

Judge issues Warrant for Tyga’s Arrest After He Fails to Show Up for Court

A judge has issued an arrest warrant for Tyga after failed to appear in court today.

According to TMZ, Kylie’s BF was a no-show in court Tuesday, where he was supposed to appear so lawyers for his former landlord could grill him about his finances. The landlord got a $480,000 judgment against the rapper who fell way behind on rent and left the Malibu home in shambles. Tyga hasn’t paid the judgment, so the landlord wants to know where Tyga’s hiding his assets.

EFCC Finally Releases Popular Blogger After 36hrs in Detention

An Abuja-based political blogger and publisher of Abusidiqu.com, Abubakar Sidiq, who was in the early hours of Monday, August 8, 2016, arrested by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for a reported publication on his website, has been released.

The anti-graft agency, EFCC later released a statement on Monday, on the reason why it arrested the blogger which caused an uproar online.
