Ted Cruz booed for refusing to endorse Donald Trump during RNC

Former US Republican presidential candidates Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz were invited to the ongoing Republican National Convention taking place in Cleveland by Donald Trump's team to give a speech and before Ted Cruz took the stage for his convention speech Wednesday night, senior members of Cruz’s team encouraged him to endorse Donald Trump during his speech.

However, Cruz didn't make that promise to them and seemed still angry at Trump for the personal attacks the GOP presidential nominee made on his family during the primary campaign, sources familiar with the speech preparations said.

Following confirmed intelligence report on the convergence and massing up of dislodged Boko Haram terrorists at Garere village in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, with intent of carrying out attack on some isolated communities, troops on fighting and clearance patrol Codenamed “Operation TIGER CLAW” on Tuesday July 19th, swooped in on the terrorists, killing 42 of them while unconfirmed number of the other terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds.

38 women and 42 children held captive were rescued from the insurgents. The women and children were taken to the military medical facility in Baga for checks. They were further assisted with food and clothing.

Crown Prince of Benin concludes traditional rites for his Coronation

The Benin Traditional Council declared Wednesday that His Royal Highness, Crown Prince (Amb) Eheneden Erediauwa, Edaiken N’Uselu has successfully performed all the required traditional rites including Emwinekhuan (the Royal funerites).

Failed Coup: Turkey declares 3-month state of emergency

Turkey's president on Wednesday declared a three-month state of emergency following a failed coup. Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the measure was being taken to counter threats to Turkish democracy and wasn't intended to curb basic freedoms. He spoke after a meeting with Cabinet ministers and top security advisers.

"The aim is to rapidly and effectively take all steps needed to eliminate the threat against democracy, the rule of law and the people's rights and freedoms," Erdogan said. Dailystar reports that Marco Velocci, 28, and his three-year-old son Alex James died in a crash with an articulated truck near Oola, Co Limerick, yesterday morning.

Before the accident, the 28-year-old had snatched the little boy and sped off in his black Audio estate after plunging a knife into his estranged partner, mother-of-two Jodie Power at her Oola home.

The 26-year-old sustained several stab wounds during the violent assault at the bungalow at around 8am yesterday.
