Sokoto State | NSCDC arrest suspected fake currency agent, hoodlums


Operatives of Sokoto Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Thursday paraded one Collins Nzewewe for printing fake currency alongside other suspected area boys.

Collins, 42, a father of seven, who hails from Orlu village of Orlu South Local Government, Imo state, said he was brought into the trade by one Abdulaziz from Niger Republic.

Collins who lived within the metropolis said he had lived about 3 years in the state, leaving his family behind in Imo State, adding that he was only a motorcycle mechanic.


The state commandant, Babangida Abdullahi Dutsenma, while parading Collins alongside other hoodlums, disclosed that the command acted on intelligence report to get on the fake money printer.

Dutsenma added that Collins has so perfected the dubious act of money printing that his printed monies looked original.

He said three of the other suspects are specialized thugs who stabbed innocent people at will.

The Commandant said before their arrest, the thugs had stabbed no fewer than 4 persons who are currently receiving treatments at various hospitals within the metropolis.

He cried out that the issue of thuggery in the state, if not properly checked potent great danger in the near future as it has become more of a volition for some youths, especially within the metropolis.
“Area Boys in Sokoto is not sponsored but a matters of interest. And I see Area Boys as a disaster coming to the state that deserves enough measure or else they will make the state unbearable.”
