Oh No! Photographer dies while trying to take perfect photo of the supermoon (Photos)

Vasiliy Gusev died after driving off a cliff in an attempt to get the best possible photograph of the supermoon.

According to Metro UK, Mr Gusev, a Russian snapper had travelled to the stunning Plateau Bermamyt in south-western Russia’s Karachay-Cherkessia Republic.

He thought it would be the perfect place to photograph the full moon as it came its closest to Earth since 1948.

Mr Gusev, better known by his online nickname ‘Grigorich1777’, travelled all over Russia to take the best pictures, which have a huge online following.

He was so excited by the prospect of photographing the supermoon that he brought along his four-year-old son and some friends for the trip.

But he left them sleeping in their tent when he set off on his night ride in search of the perfect shot of the moon.

On his way back to camp, he was driving along a narrow track in his Mitsubishi L200 when he went over a 492ft cliff.

The mangled wreckage from the car

The wreckage of his car was found near the village of Nizhnyaya Teberda at around 4am by his friends who raised the alarm.

Mr Gusev was still alive when rescuers found him in the car just 30 to 40 minutes later but he died on the way to hospital, according to reports.

His friends have organised a collection for his widow and two sons, who are five months old and four years old.

It was not reported how old he was.
