Katie Hopkins: Twitter account hacked with tweets threatening to release sex tape

Katie Hopkins' Twitter account was hacked on Sunday with tweets threatening to release a sex tape. The motormouth Sun columnist has made a name for herself using the website to post controversial opinions on topics including immigration, obesity and suicide.

But today a hacker or hackers filled her timeline with graphic and offensive sexual references and a promise to post a sex tape if tweets were retweeted a certain number of times.

The hack, which changed the former Apprentice star's name to "jiggly jaws katie", began with a tweet suggesting the attack was a response to her controversial views.

"Awell looks a like Katie Hopkins been sneak dissin too much," it read.

Later tweets said: "new sex tape by katie hopkins in her email - 200 rts and we'll post the link", and: "RT this if you think Katie deserved this. ;]"

In a final tweet around 10am this morning, the hacker or hackers tweeted a link to a lewd and graphic video on a porn website.

The account - which has a blue tick meaning Twitter has verified that it is official - was still active at the time of writing, though her profile picture had disappeared.

Hopkins, also a former Big Brother contestant, has made headlines recently likening migrants to cockroaches and calling an autistic child a t***.
