Gernot Rohr Disagrees With Mikel Says They Want All 3 Points!


Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has said it was crucial the Super Eagles beat Algeria on Saturday to openly disagree with his skipper Mikel Obi, who said he will accept a draw at home.

Mikel said he will accept a draw with visiting Algeria in Uyo.

But Rohr has maintained that it was important Nigeria won the maximum points at home at the expense of the team widely tipped to win the group.

Senate screens President Buhari’s nominees for Supreme Court


The Senate has screened President Muhammadu Buhari’s nominees as Justices of the Supreme Court.

The Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters screened the two judges on Wednesday.

The justices screened by the Senator David Umaru-led committee were Justice Sidi Dauda Bage (North-Central) and Justice Paul Adamu Galinje (North-East).

Brazil legend, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima has backed Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Ballon d’Or ahead of Barcelona rival Lionel Messi and Atletico Madrid forward, Antoine Griezman.

The former striker said Ronaldo should claim the fourth Ballon d’Or of his career after achieving European success with club and country.

Cristiano Ronaldo is favourite to win the Ballon d’Or in a year in which he helped Portugal to a first major international prize with Euro 2016 glory, after having led Madrid to their 11th Champions League success.

President Obama congratulates Trump, invites him to White House


US President Barack Obama called Donald Trump, his newly-elected successor, Wednesday to congratulate him on his victory and invited him to the White House for talks on Thursday.

Obama also called Hillary Clinton, his onetime secretary of state and fellow Democrat, to express his “admiration for the strong campaign she waged throughout the country,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a statement.

Anglo-Nigerian Dominic Solanke was among the goalscorers as England U20 spanked  Nigeria U17 team 8-1 in the Suwon Continental Cup.

Manu Garba's team was broken in the 19th minute when Young Lions’ captain Taylor Moore opened the floodgate. Barely a minute later Barnsley striker Adam Armstrong netted the first of his treble and Chelsea forward Solanke scored to make it 3-0.
