The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has re-arrested a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode. Fani-Kayode was re-arrested by operatives of the anti-graft about 1.55pm outside the premises of a Federal High Court on Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Fani-Kayode, who was in court for his trial over an alleged fraud of ‎N4.9bn, was re-arrested shortly after he stepped out of the court premises.

Six men and one woman had hands severed in the Mexican state of Jalisco... Injured group allegedly claimed punishment was inflicted by drug dealers. One of the victims reportedly died before he could get medical treatment and the other six were in critical condition in hospital.

Lagos State | Rapist Kills Pregnant Woman At Her Home In Ikorodu


A pregnant woman, Mrs. Afusat Kazeem was on Friday morning stabbed to death after being raped at her Ikorodu, Lagos residence. The incident occurred at Oluwoye community in Ibeshe around 2am, while the deceased, her husband, Yusuf Kazeem, 30, and two children Rhodia, 6, and Opeyemi, 5, were asleep.

According to the Nation, It was gathered that her attacker, suspected to be a member of a serial rapists’ gang, Badoo, gained access into their apartment through the window. The rapist, it was gathered, shattered the glass window at his victim’s residence and attacked Kazeem, who was said to have woken up to resist the intruder but he was left unconscious after the rapist hit a machete on his head.

Cameroon | 3 Dead After Packed Passenger Train Derails (Photos)


At least three people were killed and others were injured when a packed passenger train traveling between Cameroon's capital, Yaounde, and the port city of Douala derailed and overturned on Friday, witnesses said.
"There are many injured. We are still in the phase of evaluating the situation. We cannot give even a provisional toll," said an official for national rail company Camrail, who asked not to be named.

A three-year-old boy suffers from a rare genetic disorder which has caused his leg to swell to four times its normal size. Akshaj Khandelwal has Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome (KTS) - which affects one in 100,000 people and prevents him from walking normally.

The condition also causes his leg to bleed if he tries to walk more than a few steps and prevents him from going to school on his own. 

Unaware of it being a medical condition, the toddler just believes his larger leg is a gift and he is lucky to have it.

Osinbajo urges Varsities to support Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade


Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has urged universities and other tertiary institutions in the country to key into the anti-corruption crusade of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

He said the tertiary institutions are well placed as moulders of the future generations to spearhead a national orientation against corruption which he described as a cankerworm as too endemic to be overlooked.

Osinbajo who stated this on Friday at the 4th Convocation of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) stressed that no sector of the Nigerian society will be spared in the fight against corruption.

Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state has inaugurated a 12-man committee to coordinate the state’s activities on social media.

The 12 individuals were pooled from the three senatorial districts in the state and had been tasked with the “responsibility of showcasing and propagating the good work of the Governor of the State on social networks”.

The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Ibrahim Idris, has assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force is ever ready and more determined to ensure that all those who engage in vicious crimes do not escape justice.

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Don Awunah, said the I-G listed the crimes as: kidnappings, armed robbery and other criminal activities.

Awunah said this stance was what made the operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to swing into action to check such crimes.

Emir of Kano explains why the Naira is currently undervalued


Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria  and Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has disclosed why the Nigerian currency is currently undervalued.

Emir Sanusi said this in an interview with a media house in his recent visit to Washington DC, fiscal and monetary policy.

He said with the purchasing power parity, nominal exchange rate and the current rate of inflation, the value of naira at 300 is still slightly undervalued.

Neymar pens new five-year deal with Barcelona


Barcelona striker Neymar has signed a new five-year contract, keeping him at the Nou Camp until 2021.

Abdulmumin Jibrin backtracks, withdraw suit challenging suspension


The former chairman, House of Representatives committee on appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has withdrawn his suit challenging his suspension from the House.

Jibrin, a lawmaker from Kano state, was suspended by the House for 180 legislative days following the recommendations by its ethics committee.

The embattled legislator’s suit seeking stop the House from taking action against him was still pending in court at the time of his suspension.

Kaduna Government allocates N4 billion for light rail project


The Kaduna State Government has earmarked over N4 billion for the Kaduna Metropolitan Rapid Rail Transport project to begin in 2017.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the amount is part of the N24.06 billion provided for projects under the State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport in the 2017 budget.

Governor Nasiru El-Rufa’i had on Wednesday, October 12, presented an appropriation bill of over N215.9 billion to the State House of Assembly for approval.
