Emir accused of marrying off abducted 14-year-old girl


Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman have been accused of marrying off, 14-year-old Habiba Isiyaku to her kidnapper.

The 14-year-old who according to her father, Mal. Isiyaku Tanko was kidnapped from school, Government Senior Secondary School, Kudun Kankara, Katsina State by one Jamilu Lawal, has been forcefully converted to Islam and married off by the Emir without her parent's concept.

Mal. Tanko who was made to present his case by the Stefanos Foundation at a press conference in Abuja, stated that Jamilu had not only admitted to abducting his daughter but also revealed that she is presently being kept at the Palace of the Emir of Katsina.

DSS arrest two more judges taking the list to Nine


Two more judges were yesterday arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS), taking the number of judges so far picked up to nine.

Justices Bashir Sukola and Ladan Manir of the Kaduna State High Court, were arrested in Kaduna and taken to the DSS Headquarters in Abuja at about 8.30pm.

A top source told the Nation, said they were immediately taken in for interrogation.Six other judges are under probe.

The DSS, it was learnt yesterday, has frozen the accounts of some of the judges under investigation.In some of the accounts are “huge lodgments”, a source said yesterday.

A British production firm involved in making "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has been fined $2 million for failing to protect actors and workers after an incident in which Harrison Ford's leg was broken, the BBC reported.

Samsung Electronics said Wednesday it is sending fire-resistant packages to its customers in the U.S. as a precaution against possible fires or explosions from Galaxy Note 7s they return to retailers.

Samsung is offering prepaid shipping boxes as an option for U.S. consumers who purchased the phones on its website, Samsung.com. It said consumers who purchased their Note 7 phones from mobile carriers should visit the carriers' websites for recall instructions.

On Tuesday, Samsung said it was discontinuing the Note 7 phones just two months after their launch, after two recalls and many reports of fires. Samsung must now deal with receiving back more than 1.5 million Galaxy Note 7 phones, both the original ones and those issued as replacements. Most were sold in the U.S. and South Korea.

The Executive Secretary of the Obudu Urban Development Authority (BUDA), Canice Atsu has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen. 25-year-old Man bags two months sentence for Stealing Blocks


A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old labourer, Elisha Julius, to two months imprisonment for stealing blocks worth N60,000.

Julius, a resident of Kado Bimko Village, Abuja, was   convicted after he pleaded guilty for theft and begged for leniency.

The Area Court judge, Sadiq Abubakar, gave the convict an option to pay N6, 000 as fine, and warned him to desist from crime after his sentence.
