Benue State | Three suspected kidnappers arrested (PHOTO)


Benue State Police Command have arrested 3 suspected kidnappers in Ohimini Local Government Area of the state.

According to the command spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the arrest, the suspects namely Abdullahi Yahaya aka Oscar, Abubakar Hussain and Kelvin Ameh were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-robbery Squad, SARS following a tip- off.

Recession: They are now snatching food packs from nursery and primary school children


Hunger-induced crimes in Minna, Niger State capital have taken a worrying dimension as hungry youths now go about snatching food packs from nursery and primary school children on their way to school, The Guardian reports.

The latest victim, one Fati Sanusi, a four-year-old nursery two pupil of Mega Stars Academy, located in Kpakungu, Minna, alleged that her food pack, prepared by her mother was snatched from her by a youth.

Transgender couple give birth to first ever own biological baby


A transgender man, Fernando Machado who was assigned female at birth and his partner Diane Rodriguez, who was assigned male at birth, gave birth to a healthy child after conceiving with his transgender wife, making the couple the first transgender couple in South America to do so.

The couple who gave birth in June, live in Ecuador have expressed their desire to have more children.

Minister of Budget, Udo Udoma says FG won't be selling off all National Assets


The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma says the fiscal stimulus strategy designed is not to sell off all national assets.

Udoma, gave the explanation in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, James Akpandem on Saturday in Abuja.

Udoma said the primary objective of government’s fiscal stimulus plan was not to sell off all major critical national assets but to source for immediate funds to get the economy out of recession.

Kaduna | Police arrest 7 robbers, rescue 3 victims


The Nigeria Police, Kaduna State Command, has arrested seven armed robbery suspects who invaded Godogodo in Kafanchan Local Government Area of the state on September 24, 2016.

5 shot, 1 dead, after fight at Illinois campus party - Police reports


One man was killed and four other people were wounded in a pair of shootings early Sunday, including one that happened on the University of Illinois campus.

Police believe the two shootings in the eastern Illinois city of Champaign may be related. They say the first apparently stemmed from an argument shortly after midnight at an apartment party on Green Street, the commercial heart of the campus.

Legendary Golfer, Arnold Palmer from Latrobe, Pa., whose thrilling, go-for-broke style made him the first television superstar of his sport and earned him generations of devoted fans, has died, according to Golf Digest. He was 87.

The beloved Palmer, who was the first client of Mark McCormack's legendary sports management firm IMG and later co-founded the Golf Channel, the first cable network devoted to one sport, died Sunday. Further details were not immediately available.

VP Osinbajo says Buhari will take Nigerians to the promised land


Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has expressed confidence in his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari’s ability to take Nigeria out of the present economic challenges. He said that the administration would surely rescue the country and take Nigerians across the red-sea into the promise land.

The assurance was contained in Osinbajo’s remark at the 56th Independence Anniversary Interdenominational Church Service at the National Christian Centre, Abuja on Sunday.

Femi Falana insists He won’t apologise to Soludo


A senior lawyer, Femi Falana, on Sunday said he would not apologise to former Central Bank Governor Chukwuma Soludo over his allegationthat the ex-bank chief “dolled” out $7 billion government funds to bankers while he was in office.

Mr. Soludo has denied the allegation, saying he acted right in his dealings as Central Bank chief.

Mr. Falana, however, said he based his statement on facts made available by the Central Bank during Mr. Soludo’s stewardship.
