NCAA mandated that Pilots suspended for drinking must undergo psychiatric evaluation


Three pilots who were suspended by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for allegedly taking alcohol before operating their flights are to undergo a psychiatric evaluation before rejoining the service, the authority said on Friday.

Mr Sam Adurogboye, Acting General Manager, Public Relations, NCAA, disclosed this while speaking in Lagos.

NAN reports that the NCAA had recently withdrawn the licenses of the trio and placed them on a three-month suspension for breaching civil aviation regulations in the country.

UEFA drops doping charges against Liverpool’s Sakho


UEFA on Friday dropped proceedings against Liverpool and France international defender Mamadou Sakho over a doping infringement, European football’s governing body said, just two days before the Euro 2016 final. 

The defender Sakho, who moved to Anfield for £18 million ($25 million) in 2013, has 28 caps for France and had been earmarked for a starting place for France at the championships before the case threw his career into jeopardy. 
“Following a hearing with the lawyers of the player and experts of the WADA-accredited laboratories, in this case, the CEDB has decided to dismiss the case,” UEFA said in a statement, referring to its independent Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body.

Accidental discharge in Lagos Airpot Injured two


There was pandemonium  Friday at the General Aviation Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos when the gun carried by a man identified as an orderly to a senator accidentally discharged on him and a woman as he tried to remove the magazine .

Two people were reported to have been injured. The orderly who was to travel on Arik Air and wanted to lodge his gun, which is a standard practice on air travel, but the gun released a bullet that splinted and hit both the man and woman on the leg as he bent down to pull the magazine out of the gun.

Federal High Court affirms Ikpeazu as Governor of Abia State


Justice A.I Allagoa of the Federal High Court in Owerri has affirmed the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

Ruling on the case filed by Mr. Friday Nwosu against, Ikpeazu on alleged forgery of tax documents, the court ruled that the plaintiff, (Nwosu) was unable to prove that the tax documents were forged. According to an online source, Abia Online, the court ruled that the tax documents were not forged, and went further to dismissed the matter.

Minister claims No president has developed Niger Delta like Buhari


Usani Uguru, minister of Niger Delta affairs, says the region is benefiting more from the government of President Muhammadu Buhari than any other administration.

Uguru said while the previous administrations failed to act on the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) report, the Buhari-led government gave attention to it within its first year in office.

However, he expressed regret that rather than support Buhari, some people in the region were busy compiling the woes of the Niger Delta.

He said the continued destruction of oil pipelines by militants was counterproductive and harmful to the environment.

Faleke accuses Gov. Bello of purchasing N1bn worth of vehicles while Kogi people suffer


The running mate to late Abubakar Audu in the Kogi State governorship election, says Governor Yahaya Bello has purchased a number of expensive vehicles in spite of the economic situation of the state.
Faleke, who is challenging Bello in court, claimed that the governor splashed over a billion naira on the purchase of “luxury cars and trucks” for political appointees and top government officials.

Faleke in a statement issued on his behalf by Duro Meseko, spokesman of the the Audu/Faleke political organisation, said “We find it hard to believe that despite repeated admonitions by well-meaning groups and individuals, the Yahaya Bello administration still went ahead on an unimaginable flight of fancy by purchasing expensive vehicles for use by some aides of the governor and the governor himself.

40-year-old Man rapes his 17-year-old daughter in Edo


An Egor Chief Magistrates’ Court in Benin, Edo, on Friday, sentenced 40-year-old Lucky Idahosa to 14 years imprisonment for raping his 17-year-old daughter.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Igho Braimah, jailed the accused after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

The convict had in the plea told the court that he committed the act for money ritual.

Braimah said that no matter what a father considered opportunity to become rich, he should not yield to the temptation of the nursing idea of having canal knowledge of “his blood’’, let alone “really doing it’’.

Nurses drag Benue State Governor to court over illegal retirement


No fewer than nine Chief Nursing Officers employed by the Benue State Hospitals Management Board, who were allegedly forced into retirement, have dragged the government under the leadership of Samuel Ortom to the National Industrial Court, Makurdi Division.
The affected nurses are seeking an order restraining the state government or their agents from unjustly interfering with their employments.

The aggrieved chief nurses, in a suit labeled, NICN/MKD/2016 and filed through their lawyer, Pepe Dajo, also prayed the court to restore their names on the hospital payroll with immediate effect until their compulsory retirement in October 2017.

According to the ads ... A girl for sale is "Virgin. Beautiful. 12 years old ... Her price has reached $12,500 and she will be sold soon."

The posting in Arabic appeared on an encrypted conversation along with ads for kittens, weapons and tactical gear. It was shared by an activist with the minority Yazidi community, whose women and children are being held as sex slaves by ISIL.

The Police patrolman who shot and killed Philando Castile during a traffic stop has been identified as Jeronimo Yanez (Left). The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) released a statement Thursday evening saying Yanez and another cop, Officer Joseph Kauser, were involved in the Wednesday shooting.

Shinkafi buried in Sokoto


The late Marafan Sokoto, Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi, who died in a London Hospital on Thursday had been buried on Friday at the Hubbaren Shehu in Sokoto.
Burial prayer was held after the Friday prayer at the Sultan Bello Mosque, adjacent the Sultan Palace in Sokoto.

The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Alhaji Usman Akwarra.

The Federal Government’s delegation to the burial was led by the Minister of Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Danbazau.
