We Were Caught Off Guard – Federal Government On Meningitis

The Federal Government on Wednesday admitted that it was caught off guard by the outbreak of Type C of meningitis which has killed hundreds of people across the country.

The Minister of State, Health, Osagie Ehanire, said this while briefing State House correspondents of the outcome of the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. 

He was joined by the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udo Udoma; Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun; and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on. Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

ISIS Released Five Nigerian Women Turned Sex Slaves In Libya

Five Nigerian women have been identified to be part of the recently released abducted sex slaves by ISIS in Libya.

According to Reuters, out of the 35 women captured in Sirte, Libya, 5 Nigerian women were discovered to be part of the women captured and turned into sex slaves for months by ISIS. The 5 Nigerians, 2 children, and 28 Eritreans were rescued by Libyan forces last December but made to face detention in a Misrata prison.

SHOCKING! Senior Naval officer commits suicide in Lagos

The Fleet Commander, Western Naval Command, Apapa, Lagos State, Rear Admiral Daniel Ikoli, has allegedly shot himself dead in his residence in the Apapa area.

It was learnt that a service pistol, expended and live ammunition, were recovered at the scene by police detectives who visited the residence.

It was gathered that he lived with his houseboy. His wife stays in Abuja, while his children are schooling abroad.

Gelugor, a member of the Barisan Nasional coalition, made the comments in response to a proposal by an opposition member of parliament to amend the S*xual Offences Against Children bill to include a ban on child marriages.

President Buhari approves establishment of operational base for Navy in Lake Chad area

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of an operational base for the Nigerian Navy in the Lake Chad area to enhance security along the Basin.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, made this known in Abuja on Monday after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari on activities of the Navy within and outside Nigeria.

According to Ibas, the Lake Chad area is a strategic location that provides means of livelihood to hundreds of thousands of people and the presence of the Nigerian Navy will help in consolidating on the security of the area.

Oh dear! Hackers install child porn on president’s computer

Hackers on Monday installed child pornography onto the computer of Czech President, Milos Zeman, the Pravo newspaper reported.

“I turned on my computer and looked in disbelief for about 10 seconds at what was happening, before I realized that it was a hacker attack,” Zeman said in an interview.

IT specialists from the president’s office have traced the attack back to the US state of Alabama, the president said.
