Nigerian Army Releases Statement Over Brutalized Ikorodu Lady, Detains 6 Soldiers

The Nigerian Army has reacted to the reports of a lady, Ruth Orji, being attacked by soldiers attached to 174 Battalion, Ikorodu, around 8:30pm on Sunday.

The woman was attacked and severely injured by soldiers in Ikorodu, Lagos State, reportedly because she challenged a soldier who slapped her brother for no reason. Ruth sued the Nigerian Army and her attackers, among other things, demanded N250m as damages.

4-year-old Saglana Salchak has been called the bravest girl in Siberia after she walked five miles through a wolf-packed forest, across a frozen river to get help for her 60-year-old grandmother who was unconscious.

Saglana, who lives with her grandmother and blind grandfather in Tuva republic, Russia, set out with just a box of matches as temperatures dropped below 29 degrees. The government made the threat at a news conference on Wednesday in commemoration of this year’s World Water Day, with the theme: “Waste Water.” The event was attended by the State Water Regulatory Commission (LSWRC), Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) and Lagos State Waste Water Management.
