Acting President, Osinbajo orders release of N1.6bn loan for women

The Federal Government has authorized the release of N1.6 billion for the National Women’s Empowerment Fund.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo said this Wednesday on the occasion of the 2017 International Women’s Day.

Osinbajo said the present administration was committed to protecting all women from all forms of gender-based violence, especially those living “where the security situation is difficult and living conditions are challenging.”

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, yesterday, pleaded with the Owerri branch of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, to identify with his administration’s policies and programmes.

Okorocha stated this in Owerri, through the state’s Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Miletus Nlemadim, during the 2017 law week organized by the Owerri branch of NBA.

Nlemadim called on the NBA, to key into the ideas of the rescue mission agenda of Okorocha, to move the state forward.

Court sends human head dealer to 6 years imprisonment

A human skull dealer, Mr Saheed Musiliu, 37, has been sentenced to six years imprisonment with hard labour.

The judgement was delivered at the Magistrate Court 1 sitting in Iyaganku, Oyo State, presided over by the Chief magistrate, Mrs. Durosaro Tijani.

It would be called that Musiliu was caught with one human skull on January 15, 2017 and later arraigned in court eight days later after in­vestigation by the police.

High Court Sentences 200L University Student to Death by Hanging in Ibadan

A 200-level student of Lead City University, Ibadan, Moshood Owolabi, is to die by hanging for stabbing his fellow student to death.

Delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice Adegboye Gbolagunte of an Ibadan High Court sentenced Mr. Owolabi to death by hanging for causing the death of one Seun Kolawole, two years ago.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mr. Owolabi of the Physical and Health Education Department caused the death of Mr. Kolawole by stabbing him with a bottle.
