The 59th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony which held on February 12, 2017 and was broadcast live by CBS network from the Staples Center in Los Angeles saw Adele winning big.

Kano State | 50-year-old man rapes, impregnates 15-year-old girl

A 50-year old man in Kabo Local Government Area of  Kano named Tukur Mohammed, has been arraigned before a Kano Chief Magistrate’s Court for sexually assaulting a 15-year old girl.

The police said the father of four asked his victim to accompany him to his farm where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The teenager subsequently became pregnant after the sexual act.

The police First Information Report on the incident stated that one Abdulhamid Adamu, 45, reported the matter to the police on January 31, 2017.

30-year-old Nigerian soldier sentenced to death by hanging for raping a married woman

30-year-old Nigerian soldier, Lance Corporal Oge Etudo, has been found guilty of rape and culpable homicide and has been sentenced to death by hanging by an Abuja Court.

The Soldier who was formerly attached to a battalion of the Nigerian Army at Lungi Barracks in Abuja, was found guilty of abducting a lady, whose name was given as Binta Usman Kadede, on March 27, 2014, at Dei-Dei suburb of the FCT.

Justice A.S. Adepoju who ruled on the case, stressed that the soldier gruesomely murdered his victim after raping her, and so will not show mercy to him.

Music Legend, Majek Fashek to sue Timi Dakolo for N100M

Nigerian music star, Timi Dakolo, is getting sued for using Majek Fashek's hit song, “Send down the rain” without authorization when he was sick.

This was made known by Majek’s manager, Uzoma Day Omenka, who disclosed that the two artistes will be meeting in court before the end of March, after they return from a trip to the United Kingdom.

Pastor arrested for assaulting his wife and children

A Pastor, Christopher Sule, has been arrested for inflicting gruesome injuries on his children and wife. The Pastor who is pursuing his Masters degree in a theological seminary in Jos, Plateau State, assaulted his kids for not reciting what they were taught in school, and also extended same treatment to their mum who came to their rescue.

Mrs Rachel Christopher, who narrated the incident amidst tears, revealed she has been subjected to assaults since they got married, and for the past 3 years, he beats their kids aged eight and six at the slightest provocation.

She noted that her husband has never been really remorseful even after she threatened to pack out of their matrimonial home, with friends and family members intervening.

APC candidate wins Plateau by-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday declared Mr. Jackson Nimmwang, APC candidate, the winner of Saturday’s Langtang South State Constituency by-election in Plateau.

The INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Tor Iorapuu, declared in Mabodi, that Nimmwang polled 3,688 votes to beat his counterpart form Mega Progressives Peoples Party, Mr. Rinsmicit Emmanuel, who scored only 83 votes.

Iorapuu said that the turn out at the election was very low as only 13 per cent of the 48,615 registered voters participated in the election held in 68 polling units.

North Korea missile: President Trump says United States behind Japan

North Korea fired a ballistic missile on Sunday, drawing a strong response from US President Donald Trump who vowed “100 percent” support for key ally Japan at a press conference with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The missile, the first test since Trump became president, was launched around 7:55 am (2255 GMT Saturday) from Banghyon air base in the western province of North Pyongan, and flew east towards the Sea of Japan (East Sea), the South Korean defence ministry said.

It flew about 500 kilometres (310 miles) before falling into the sea, a ministry spokesman said, adding the exact type of missile had yet to be identified.

Governor Fayose vows to fish out killers of Fulani herdsman

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has charged the police and the Department of State Security (DSS) to fish out the killers of a herdsman, Mr. Ahmed Dele, in Omu Ekiti, vowing to bring the killers to justice.

Ahmed was allegedly killed by ritualists during a communal clash between Aiyede and Itaji communities in Oye Local Government Area of the state. According to a press statement in Ado Ekiti, yesterday, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Idowu Adelusi, “information gathered indicated that the herdsman, Mr Ahmed Dele, was killed by ritualists and not as a, result of conflict between cattle rearers and farmers.”

Qatar Airways aircraft incident caused by bird strike - NCAA

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said the air return made by a Qatar Airways aircraft on Feb. 9 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, was caused by a bird strike on one of its engines. The NCAA made the clarification in a statement signed by its General Manager, Public Relations, Mr Sam Adurogboye and obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Sunday.

A 19-year old Benue State-born Samuel Jonah was arrested and charged before a Lagos court sitting in Ejigbo for engaging some people suspected to be assassins with the sum of N5000 to kill his boss, Donatus Nnaji.

The incident happened at Ikotun Area of Lagos where Nnaji runs a bakery.

Jonah allegedly offered the men a sum N5,000 but paid N2,000 cash with  promise to pay the balance on completion of eliminating Nnaji.
