President Trump makes unannounced trip to honor fallen Navy SEAL

President Donald Trump is making an unannounced trip to honor the returning remains of a U.S. Navy SEAL killed during a weekend raid on an al-Qaida base in Yemen.

Trump was to arrive Wednesday afternoon at Delaware's Dover Air Force Base.

Chief Special Warfare Operator William "Ryan" Owens, a 36-year-old from Peoria, Illinois, was the first known U.S. combat casualty since Trump took office less than two weeks ago. Three other Americans were wounded in the operation, which was planned by former President Barack Obama's administration but approved by Trump.

Expert warns against wrong sleeping position in pregnancy

A gynecologist, Dr Nathaniel Adewole, has warned that sleeping on the back side of the body at advanced stage of pregnancy could predispose a baby to brain problem. Adewole, of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja that the problem could occur due to the weight of the uterus. He said that such sleeping positioning by the pregnant mother would make the baby to rest against the big vesicles called inferior vena cava, which supplies blood to the heart.

The inferior vena cava is the large vein that carries de-oxygenated blood from the lower half of the body into the right atrium of the heart. According to him, at the early stage of pregnancy, sleeping position constitutes no much problem; a woman can take any sleeping position that is convenient.

Google Creates A $4 Million Crisis Fund For The Immigration Rights Fight

Google has opened a crisis funds worth $4 million for persons affected by Donald Trump's Immigration ban.

According to Billboard, Google has seeded a $2M crisis fund, which they plan to grow to $4M. The fund's purpose is to help organizations dedicated to fighting for immigrant rights. 

They hope that the additional $2M will be raised via donation from its employees.

The war of words between Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and his Anambra state counterpart, Willie Obiano, seems not to be abating, as Okorocha, on Tuesday accused Obiano of running Anambra state aground .

Okorocha, equally accused his colleague Governor of rendering the All Progressives Grand Alliance as an ineffective political party in the country since his assumption of office in 2013.

In a stalemate signed by Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, the Governor boasted that there was no basis for comparison between him and Obiano.

Okorocha who was responding to a statement credited to the Anambra state Governor where he described him as a bad example to good leadership, said that his colleague does not have what was required to be a governor.

Power generation hits 3,528 megawatts from 2,662 megawatts

The Transmission Company of Nigeria says that the nation’s power generation improved slightly to 3,528.90 megawatts on February 1 from 2,662 megawatts on January 22.

This figure was disclosed on the website of the Nigerian Electricity System Operator, a sub-agency of the TCN, in its daily forecast on power generation in Lagos on Wednesday.

It said, “The slight increase in generation is due to slightly increased gas supply to some Generating Companies to boost operations.

“The total output of 3,528.90 megawatts from all the GENCOs on Wednesday has been transferred to the 11 distribution companies across the country.”

A man identified as one David Agama Esse, a  chief security officer with Cross River State Cultural Centre Board was gruesomely murdered by unknown person on January 22, 2017. He was until his death, also the Supervisor with the Technical unit of the centre.

Public Relations Officer of the Cross River Police Command, Ms Irene Ugbo said three persons, including the man's girlfriend were arrested to facilitate investigation and fish out culprits.

Suspects narrates how they killed Aisha Alli-Balogun; abducted her daughter, others

The police high command in Abuja yesterday, disclosed that it has apprehended two more suspects who took part in the kidnap of eight schoolgirls and staff of Nigeria Turkish International College, NTIC, Ogun State, last month, while the sum of N3 million was recovered from the latest suspects.

Vanguard gathered that the alleged abductors  identified as Alex Super, also known as Yanga and Egbasimokumo Ayeomi, were arrested last Monday night at Majidun/Ajegunle Area of Ikorodu, Lagos state, few hours after they left their camp, inside the Ikorodu creeks.

According to reliable police source, the suspects also confessed to the December 2016 killing of Aisha Ali-Balogun, a presenter of a popular comedy show, Stand Up Nigeria.
