Rotimi Ameachi says he won’t resign over Abuja airport closure

Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi has said that he doesn’t want to resign his appointment on the account of any eventuality that may occur if the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport is not closed down for repairs.

The Minister was responding to the concerns raised by the President of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Frank Udenba-Jacobs, who made a presentation on behalf of the Organised Private Sector (OPS) at the Second Presidential Business Forum, presided over by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.

According to a study by Australian online clothing store Showpo,it found body confidence increases by 23 per cent when you hit 30 and that women over the age of 18 are 27 per cent more likely to love their body naked than those under 18.

Power supply drops to 2,200mw from 4,883.9mw

Nigerians’ economic hardship has taken a turn for the worse as electricity supply dropped from the 4,883.9 mega watts (mw) it recorded in the last one month to 2,200mw as at January 21, 2017.

This is far below the country’s installed capacity of 11,165.40mw and network operational capability of 5,500mw.

Over 450mw of electricity has been trapped at the Afam V Power Station in Rivers State following a fire incident, in which Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) protection and control equipment were destroyed last week.

Imo State | Woman sets son, 7-year-old on fire while trying to settle fight

Tragedy struck at Eke-Obollo, in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State after a middle-aged woman, Chinonso Azubuike, in a bid to separate two fighters, set her son, Chimaobi Azubuike, aged three, and one seven-year-old Chidalu Onyeka on fire.

Sources in the grieving community told PUNCH on Saturday that the woman had been admitted in a public hospital in Owerri, the state capital, owing to the damages done to her body by the raging fire.

The woman, who is married to one Oliver, who hails from Umuchieze – Obollo, poured a gallon of petrol on her husband and sister-in-law, Adanna Onyeka, on Friday, in an attempt to separate them after they engaged in fisticuffs.

A young woman, Chinedu Chukwu, has been arrested by the police for abducting and selling her elder sister’s four-year-old daughter.

The girl, Chinecherem Irechukwu, a pupil of Unity Primary School in Inyi, a community in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu, was declared missing on December 15, 2016. The police were notified after Chinecherem did not return from school.

In the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Chinedu, the younger sister of Chinecherem’s mother and her boyfriend, Chinonso Osunkwo, traveled down from Anambra State where they reside, to abduct Chinecherem from her school.

Soldiers Allegedly Brutalize Man For Been 'So Muscular' In Lagos (Photos)

Nigerian soldiers have been accused of allegedly brutalizing a fitness enthusiast for wearing a fitted top which revealed his muscular built. 

According to the victim Olajide Nathan (@drealghettoboy), the incident happened around 9:30pm, last night, at Keffi street, off Awolowo road, close to Dordan barracks, Obalende.

A policeman attached to the PPL Police Post, Ojo division, Sergeant Henry, has allegedly stabbed an estate manager, Lucky Asuelimen, along the PPL Task Force Road, Ojo. It was learnt that Henry accused Asuelimen of mocking him and three other cops while pushing a vehicle last Wednesday.

It was gathered that the four policemen were pushing the commercial bus to the police station after its owner allegedly committed an offence.

A resident was said to have mocked the policemen while they passed.

It was learnt that Henry later returned to the area and attacked Asuelimen, alleging he was the one who mocked them.

According to a source who spoke with The Daily Star Online, a SAS squad was tracking the IS members when dozens of women and children tried to flee from the extremists

When the terrorists ordered the civilians to stop and pointed a machine gun at the crowd from a second-storey window, the SAS team decided they had no choice but to open fire and save the fleeing group.
