3 Feared Dead In Renewed Southern Kaduna Violence

At least three people have been feared killed and several others injured in a renewed violence in part of Southern Kaduna, residents have said.

Lai Mohammed confirms talks to free remaining Chibok girls

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed on Tuesday reassured that the negotiations for the release of other Chibok girls in captivity were on-going.

Mohammed; the Minister of Defence, Brig-Gen. Mansur Dan-Alli (rtd); the convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili; as well as selected local and foreign journalists participated in the search mission. Mohammed said that the success recorded by the military in the theatre of war was helping the negotiation because of the carrot and stick approach of government to ending insurgency.

President Buhari express regrets over bombing of civilians in IDP Camp

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sadness and regret over the accidental bombing of a civilian community in Rann, Borno, by the Nigerian Air Force engaged in fighting Boko Haram insurgency in the area.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Tuesday, the president condoled with families of the dead. The president, who expressed sympathy to the Borno Government, also wished those wounded during the incident divine succour, leading to full recovery. He pledged the Federal Government’s help for the state government in attending to “this regrettable operational mistake”. Buhari, who pleaded for calm, prayed God to grant repose to the souls of the dead. 

MMM Participants Panic As Scheme Cancels Requests For Payment

The joy of participants (Mavrodians) in MMM over the return of the scheme on January 13, a month after it froze their accounts, has turned out to be shortlived as they have been fed excuse after excuse.

4 die, 17 injured in road crash along Okene-Lokoja

Four people died instantly in a fatal accident which occurred on the Okene – Lokoja road in the early hours of Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that 17 other passengers were injured in the incident which occurred at about 12:30 a.m. at Irepeni village on the highway.

The accident involved a white colour Toyota Hiace bus with registration number 14B – 888- DT and an unmarked black Peugeot 206.

Kogi State | Robbery suspect suspiciously escapes from court

The Nigeria Prison Service in Kogi has confirmed the escape of a 29-year-old accused, Lawrence Urih, from prison custody.

Umar Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer of the Prison Command, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Tuesday in Lokoja that Urih escaped when he was brought to the State High Court, Lokoja, for the continuation of his trial.

Mr. Abubakar said that the accused had been kept in the Medium Security Prisons, Koton-Karfe, from where he was taken to the court in Lokoja, on Monday.

He said that the prison authorities were immediately notified about the escape by the robbery suspect.

The MSF, otherwise known as Doctors Without Borders, has said that at least 52 people were killed after a Nigerian fighter jet accidentally dropped a bomb on an internally displaced persons, IDP, camp.

The international organisation, whose officials were present at the Rann camp in Borno State when the incident occurred, said another 102 people were injured from the incident.

The MSF stated these in a statement issued to the media in Borno State.
