Daliyah Marie Arana, from Gainesville, Georgia, became hooked on reading after she started recognising words at just 18 months old.

She now enjoys books written for university students and only needs help if she gets stuck on a 'big' word, her parents said.

Her mother Haleema told the Times of Gainesville newspaper that she and her husband Miguel started reading to Daliyah 'right when she was born'.

Lai Mohammed confirms talks to free remaining Chibok girls

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed on Tuesday reassured that the negotiations for the release of other Chibok girls in captivity were on-going. 

The minister disclosed this at the Air Force Base in Yola in a briefing to conclude a day and night rounds of search sortie of the missing girls to Sambisa. Mohammed; the Minister of Defence, Brig-Gen. Mansur Dan-Alli (rtd); the convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili; as well as selected local and foreign journalists participated in the search mission. Mohammed said that the success recorded by the military in the theatre of war was helping the negotiation because of the carrot and stick approach of government to ending insurgency.

President Buhari express regrets over bombing of civilians in IDP Camp

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sadness and regret over the accidental bombing of a civilian community in Rann, Borno, by the Nigerian Air Force engaged in fighting Boko Haram insurgency in the area.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Tuesday, the president condoled with families of the dead. The president, who expressed sympathy to the Borno Government, also wished those wounded during the incident divine succour, leading to full recovery. He pledged the Federal Government’s help for the state government in attending to “this regrettable operational mistake”. Buhari, who pleaded for calm, prayed God to grant repose to the souls of the dead. 

MMM Participants Panic As Scheme Cancels Requests For Payment

The joy of participants (Mavrodians) in MMM over the return of the scheme on January 13, a month after it froze their accounts, has turned out to be shortlived as they have been fed excuse after excuse.

On Tuesday, four days after its return it cancelled all (GH) requests by participants to get their money back, creating panic once again.

4 die, 17 injured in road crash along Okene-Lokoja

Four people died instantly in a fatal accident which occurred on the Okene – Lokoja road in the early hours of Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that 17 other passengers were injured in the incident which occurred at about 12:30 a.m. at Irepeni village on the highway.

The accident involved a white colour Toyota Hiace bus with registration number 14B – 888- DT and an unmarked black Peugeot 206.

Kogi State | Robbery suspect suspiciously escapes from court

The Nigeria Prison Service in Kogi has confirmed the escape of a 29-year-old accused, Lawrence Urih, from prison custody.

Umar Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer of the Prison Command, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Tuesday in Lokoja that Urih escaped when he was brought to the State High Court, Lokoja, for the continuation of his trial.

Mr. Abubakar said that the accused had been kept in the Medium Security Prisons, Koton-Karfe, from where he was taken to the court in Lokoja, on Monday.

He said that the prison authorities were immediately notified about the escape by the robbery suspect.

UPDATES! 52 dead, 120 injured after Nigerian jet mistakenly bombed IDP camp

The MSF, otherwise known as Doctors Without Borders, has said that at least 52 people were killed after a Nigerian fighter jet accidentally dropped a bomb on an internally displaced persons, IDP, camp.

The international organisation, whose officials were present at the Rann camp in Borno State when the incident occurred, said another 102 people were injured from the incident.

The MSF stated these in a statement issued to the media in Borno State.

JUST IN: Nigerian military jet mistakenly drops bomb on IDP camp, many feared dead

According to a breaking news, several people has been reported dead after a military plane mistakenly dropped a bomb inside the Rann IDP camp in Borno State.

The Rann IDP camp in Kala-balge Local Government Area caters for thousands of persons displaced by Boko Haram.

A source at the camp told PREMUM TIMES that at least hundred people were injured and needed to be evacuated to hospitals.

Man Arrested for Having Sex Over 100 Times with the Family Dog ‘Baby Girl’

23-year-old Bradley Jean Hubbard was arrested on Monday in Pensacola, Florida on claims he’s been having sex with the family dog for years.

One of his own family members alerted the authorities saying she had physically seen Bradly take the pitbull mix, named ‘Baby Girl,’ to his room and engage in sexual contact with her. She estimates it’s been happening more than 100 times in the past years.

The family member also says she witnessed the attack because Bradly’s bedroom door has a hole in it as a result of a previous violent outburst.

Presidency says Buhari did not sack Obazee because of Adeboye

There is been another twist to the sudden removal of Jim Obazee as the Executive Secretary of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, FRCN.

According to Presidency sources, Obazee was not fired by President Muhammadu Buhari because of the resignation of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye but for ‘procedural breaches.’

Vanguard quoted sources as saying that Obazee was sacked based on advice of the Attorney General of the Federation.

Police intercepts trucks with 145 underage boys on its way to Plateau

The Plateau State police command said it has intercepted two trucks carrying 145 children from Bauchi, Gombe and Jigawa states.

According, a statement issued by the public relations officer, Terna Tyopev, the driver, conductor and all accomplices will be charged to court.

The statement said the children, who are all male, were being taken to places unknown to even the coordinators of the movement.
