Aliko Dangote Set To Begin In-country Coal Mining, Ends Importation

Dangote Cement Industries has said it will commence the mining and sourcing of coal for its cement production within Nigeria in the next two and half months, thus putting an end to its importation of the mineral from foreign sources.

Speaking at the 46th Annual General Meeting and conference of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE) at the weekend in Abuja, the Group Managing Director of Dangote Cements, Mr. Edwin Devakumar said the company has concluded on this and will go ahead with it.

Islamic State has released chilling video game-style footage of the assassination of a Yemeni colonel, who was gunned down by masked killers. Airport security Col. Abd Al-Rahim Al-Dale'i was executed by ISIS militants as he climbed into a car in war-torn Aden, a port city in the south of Yemen.

Although no group initially claimed responsibility, Islamic State later released the first person footage of the callous attack.

Nigeria Now Third Among World's Poorest Countries

Nigeria has been named the third nation with the poorest people in the world, according to an annual global wealth report compiled by the Swiss bank, Credit Suisse. The nation came third with 35 million Nigerians classified among the poorest people in the world, after China's 72 million while India tops the list with 246 million people.

Late Gov Audu’s Son Says His Father’s Shoe Too Big For Me

One year after the death of the first civilian governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, his first son, Mohammed on Tuesday said the shoes left by his father were too big for him to step into. He also dispelled the rumour that there was a crack in the political family left behind by Audu, saying all this that believed in the former governor were still intact. 

Mohammed, who spoke during the one year remembrance prayer for his father held at his country home in Ogonicha, Ofu local government area of Kogi State, said it had been difficult managing the members of the political family after the demise of his father.

 He however said he was learning the rope faster and would continue to sustain the values and ideals for which his father was known.

A military general court martial in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Tuesday sentenced a soldier to 18 months in prison for unauthorized possession of live ammunitions outside his assigned duty post. The court martial, headed by Olusegun Adeniyi, a Brigadier General, tried Private Mcdonald Chukwu on a two-count charge after he was caught at a bus station with 89 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunitions inside his travelling bag.

Nigerian Airforce says their fighter jets attacked Boko Haram, killed scores

The fighter pilots of the Nigerian Air Force have killed several Boko Haram insurgents in multiple operations in the north of Borno State.

The Director, Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Grp. Capt. Ayodele Famuyiwa, said in a statement on Tuesday that fighter jets bombarded a Boko Haram location at Kadari and killed an unspecified number of the insurgents.

Famuyiwa said that the fighter jets also carried out airstrikes on selected Boko Haram targets at Ngoshe on November 18, 2016.

Embattled producer and socialite, Seun Egbegbe, arrested this morning (Tuesday, November 22) at Computer Village (Ikeja, Lagos) by the police for allegedly stealing 9 iPhones, has denied the theft.

The estranged lover of star actress Toyin Aimakhu told the police that he was on his way to his car to pick money for the phones when the sales boy raised an alarm that he was bolting away.

He was apprehended by passersby and beaten. Thereafter, policemen from Area F in GRA Ikeja were alerted, and he has whisked away.
