Junaid Mohammed: Buhari’s government shameless for talking about 2019

Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has kicked against a recent comment from the Presidency that Nigerians will rally behind the President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, stressing that, “It is very unfortunate and shameless that a government that is yet to do anything is already talking of 2019.”

The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, on Monday, gave an indication that his principal may be seeking a second term in office when he vehemently dismissed comments by a former member of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Alhaji Buba Galadima, that the people of Nigeria would abandon the President should he choose to seek re-election.

OMG! Househelp clones employer’s credit card, shops for goods worth N328,000

A Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday remanded a 23-year-old housekeeper, Henry Iruma-Egana, who allegedly stole his employer’s credit card to purchase goods online.

The Magistrate, Mrs F.O. Ikobayo, remanded the housekeeper pending ruling his bail application.

She adjourned the case to November 30 for the ruling.

Donald Trump says He will build a fence, rather than a wall

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has softened his initial immigration threat to build a wall along the United States border line with Mexico.

Speaking with New York Times on Tuesday, Trump said he might have to build a fence, rather than a wall, in some areas of the U.S.- Mexican border to stop illegal immigration.

This is contrary to one of his signature campaign promises on immigration where he promised to build a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico.

Watching too much TV can make men infertile

For many couples who are trying to achieve pregnancy, the solution might lie in watching less TV and spending more time, not necessarily on the bed, but in physical activities!

Researchers at the University Department of Growth and Reproduction, University of Copenhagen, have said that men who spend five or more hours watching TV daily risk 29 percent lower sperm concentration and 34 percent lower sperm count than men who don’t watch any TV.

Court sacks Jimoh Ibrahim, reinstates Jegede as Ondo PDP candidate

The Court of Appeal has sacked Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the PDP in Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.

The court, therefore, ordered that Mr. Ibrahim be replaced with Eyitayo Jegede, who belongs to the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the party.

President Buhari to present 2017 budget Dec 1

The 2017-2019 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper sent to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari for legislative approval narrowly escaped being rejected again at the Senate on Wednesday.

The upper chamber of the National Assembly condemned the projections of the proposal in the document as unrealistic, even though it said the Presidency had set December 1 for the presentation of the 2017 Appropriation Bill to the legislature.

Lagos State cancels monthly environmental sanitation exercise

The Lagos State Government has cancelled the monthly environmental sanitation exercise held every last Saturday of the month.

The cancellation followed a resolution arrived at in Wednesday’s Executive Council meeting which approved the need for a review of the environmental laws and procedures in the state in order to meet the present day challenges and to promote a clean and healthy.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, in a statement said the cancellation of the monthly exercise became necessary due to present economic realities in the country.

Police find the body of '7-year-old' phone thief burnt to death in a Lagos canal

The Lagos State Police Command has located the charred remains of a robbery suspect who was burnt to death by a mob in the Orile area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the suspect was believed to be between 20 and 25 years old, and not a seven-year-old boy lynched over garri, which went viral on the social media.

Owoseni, who noted that the lynching occurred around 4pm penultimate Saturday, said the police had contacted an emergency agency of the state government to remove the corpse.

Although no group initially claimed responsibility, Islamic State later released the first person footage of the callous attack.
