Lagos-Ibadan expressway repairs to end December 25

The engineer supervising section one of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway reconstruction/rehabilitation contract by the Federal Ministry of Power, Works, and Housing, Mr. Kayode Ibrahim, said that the project was 32 per cent completed.

Ibrahim said on Monday that work had been completed on one section of the Long Bridge and on various critical sections.

Section one of the projects is from Ojota in Lagos to Sagamu Interchange and is being handled by Julius Berger.

France | Police foil terror attack, arrest seven

Police have broken up a terror ring  plotting an attack in France after arresting seven individuals in Strasbourg and Marseille, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Monday.

The weekend arrests of seven suspects of French, Moroccan, and Afghan origin “enabled us to prevent a long-planned terror attack on our soil,” Cazeneuve told a televised news conference.

A cleaner, Peter Oko, has narrated how he stole N5.675 million from the New Nyanya branch of Diamond Bank, where he worked.

The 29-year-old stated that he took the keys to the vault, stole the money and hid it in a carton, which he took home after the close of work.The money was however recovered by the police, which said that the suspect had been charged to court.

Oko told Northern City News at the Nasarawa State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department in Lafia that he carried out the theft alone, saying,

Cleric Says Pornography, Masturbation Affect The Brain, Impede Productivity

Reverend Paul Ojoh, the Resident Pastor, Shepherd House Assembly International, Jos has said that pornography and masturbation could affect the brain and impede productivity.

“Those twin evils could hurt the brain and impede productivity because of the cumulative negative effects of addiction to them,” he stated on Sunday in Jos, during a sermon at the Youth Conference of the Church.

In the sermon titled: ‘Dealing with Forces of Addiction’, he noted that a high percentage of youths suffer addiction mostly to pornography and masturbation.

San Antonio officer shot to dead while writing ticket (Photos)

A San Antonio police officer writing out a traffic ticket to a motorist was shot to death in his squad car Sunday outside police headquarters by another driver who pulled up from behind, authorities said.

San Antonio police Chief William McManus identified the officer as Detective Benjamin Marconi, 50, a 20-year veteran of the force.

A drama played out at the Abia State Police Command headquarters in Umuahia when some suspected cultists accused one another of owning a gun. The suspects, four in number, literally divided themselves into two groups, with each group insisting that the gun in question belonged to the other team.

The suspects were two kinsmen, Okoye Simon and Charles Okeke, who are from Anambra State and other were roommates, Udu John and Aigbemen Eromoselem, all students of a private polytechnic in Aba, Abia State.
