In Liberia | Hacker cut off internet access after repeated attacks

Liberia has been repeatedly cut off from the internet by hackers targeting its only link to the global network.

Recurrent attacks on November 3 flooded the cable link with data, making net access intermittent.

Researchers said the attacks showed hackers trying different ways to use massive networks of hijacked machines to overwhelm high-value targets.

NNPC Increases Fuel Price

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has increased the pump price of petrol at its retail outlets by N4 from N141 to N145 per litre.

Though the new N145 price remains within the maximum price cap fixed by the federal government in May, this is the first time fuel at NNPC’s outlets will be sold at that price.

A witness, Mr. Richard Ihediwa, in the ongoing trial of former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisah Metuh, said on Thursday that the N400m Metuh got was disbursed as directed by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

Ihediwa, led in evidence by the counsel to Metuh, Mr. Emeka Etiaba (SAN), told the Abuja High Court that Jonathan gave the directive on how the amount was to be spent.

The Police Command in Enugu State has arrested an alleged burglary kingpin it trailed for over two weeks.

The command’s spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, on Friday in Enugu said that the suspect and his gang had been involved in most of the burglary incidents within Enugu Township.
