A Pennsylvania university student was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he allegedly put bleach in his pregnant girlfriend’s water in an attempt to harm her fetus.

According to NY Daily News, Theophilous Washington, 20, of Washington, D.C., a junior at Millersville University, is charged in Lancaster County with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder of an unborn child as well as reckless endangering.

“The charges are twisted and the intended result nothing short of horrifying,” District Attorney Craig Stedman said in a statement Friday.

Gunmen kill Kogi Miyetti Allah chairman

The Chairman, Kogi Chapter of Wuro Miyetti-Allah Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar, has been assassinated by unknown gunmen who invaded his residence in the early hours of Saturday.

The unknown gunmen numbering about eight, invaded the Peace Community, Road 3, Ganaja road, Lokoja residence of Abubakar at about 2:05am on Saturday to carry out the dastardly act.

Residents of the area, who spoke with newsmen, said they were gripped with fear when they started hearing gunshots from the residence of the chairman of Fulani socio-cultural group in the operation that lasted over an hour.

NEMA, Army Confirm 9 Dead, 24 Injured In Maiduguri Twin Explosions

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said nine persons have died and 24 others were injured in two explosions that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, in Maiduguri, Borno state.

Mr Sanni Datti, Head of Media, NEMA, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja.

Datti said that one of the explosions occurred at the entrance to the Bakasi Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp, while the second happened at the NNPC filling station along Damboa road, Maiduguri.

RCCG urge Mothers to give their children sex education

Rekiya Iletu, the Provincial Coordinator in charge of the Children Church of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has urged mothers to spend quality time with their children.

Iletu made the plea in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday at the Musical Concert of the Lagos Province 15 of RCCG, Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos.

She said that sexual abuse was on the increase, adding that parents had the responsibility to educate their children on the dangers of sexual abuse.

Environmental Sanitation | 245 Persons Behind Bars Over Violation Of Laws

Two hundred and forty-five persons were convicted by two separate Mobile Courts on Saturday in Benin for violation of the state’s Sanitation and Pollution Management Law No 5 of 2010.

The two courts sat at Ramat Park and Sapele roads within Benin metropolis.

Mr Samson Erhaze, Senior State Counsel, Edo Ministry of Justice and Mr Plus Oiwoh, Head of Legal Services, Edo Ministry of Environment, gave these statistics to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin.

The counsels said while some of the offenders were convicted for violation of sanitation, others were convicted for wandering and obstructing sanitation officials from discharging their duties.

Judges Arrest: Court summons Buhari, DSS

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, on Friday, ordered President Muhammadu Buhari and the Director-General of the Department of State Service, DSS, Mr. Lawal Daura, to appear on November 15.

The court said it expects them to show cause why seven judges arrested between October 7 and 8 should be prosecuted.

Also summoned were the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and the National Judicial Council, NJC.
