“I pray for president Buhari every single day" - Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, special assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on new media, says in spite of his constant criticisms of the All Progressives Congress national party leader - President Muhammadu Buhari, he remembers him in his prayers two times every day.

This is the second time Mr Omokri will be making this statement about his prayers despite a public acceptance of his hatred for Buhari who unhorsed his principal from the citadel of power.

Omokri, a pastor, said the Bible is not against chastising leaders, and noted that the president is often oblivious to the things happening in the country.

Federal Government Has Released N3.9trn Of 2016 Budget – Min for Finance

The Minister for Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has said that at the end of September, N3.9tn out of the N6.1tn budgeted for the year has been released.

The Director Special Projects in the ministry, who represented the minister, Mr. Mohammed Dikwa, a stakeholders’ forum on reducing the cost of governance in Abuja on Tuesday said only 18 percent of the releases was for capital expenses against 82 percent for recurrent expenditure.

In a paper, “Public Sector Financial Management Reforms as a Strategy for Cutting Cost of Governance in Nigeria”, Adeosun said that the releases to the productive sectors of the economy remained the highest in recent times.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has disqualified thirteen presidential candidates from contesting this year’s elections.

The body qualified four candidates.

The EC Chairman, Charlotte Osei, on Tuesday in Accra named the qualified candidates as John Mahama of the governing National Democratic Congress, Nana Akufo-Addo of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Ivor Greenstreet of the Convention People’s Party, and Jacob Osei-Yeboah, an independent candidate.

The Niger State Government said it would discontinue the payment of the West African Senior School Examination Certificate Examination and National Examination Council fees for its students in secondary schools in the state.

The state governor, Sani Bello, disclosed this on Tuesday when he visited the Justice Legbo Kutigi Secondary School to inspect the ongoing renovation of the school in Lavun Local Government Area of the state.

Bello said the government could not continue to pay N800m every year for students only for just five per cent of them to pass the examinations.

The four pupils, Abu, Emmanuel Okonkwo, Jeremiah Ruth, Isaac Adebisi, Vice Principal, Junior School, AO Oyesola and English teacher, Lukman Oyerinde, who were abducted last Thursday at the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla in Epe have been released by the kidnappers around 10:30pm, Tuesday night.

The kidnappers initially demanded N120 million for the release of the abducted people but then reduced it to N3.5m on Sunday.
