Chimamanda Adichie disappointed that People attribute her Fame to Beyonce’s Song

Nigerian novelist, Chimamanda Adichie has revealed her disappointment at the aftermath of her features in Beyoncé’s hit song, Flawless.

The Nigerian-born writer who disclosed that she feels irritated whenever people attribute her popularity and fame to Beyoncé said: “In the first place: of course Beyoncé asked permission to use my texts, and I did give her permission. I think she’s lovely and I am convinced that she has nothing but the best intentions. In addition, Beyoncé is a celebrity of the first order and with this song she has reached many people who would otherwise probably never have heard the word feminism, let alone gone out and buy my essay.”

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma was embarrassed on Monday when a question was posed at him regarding Nigeria’s total debt profile during the 22nd Nigerian Economic Summit taking place in Abuja.

Zain Asher, a CNN Anchor, who was one of the moderators, asked Udoma to divulge the specific figure of Nigeria’s debt profile.

Former first lady Patience Jonathan has denied being the owner of additional $25m traced to her accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Vanguard reports that Patience aka ‘Mama Peace’ when her husband Goodluck Jonathan was president issued the denial through a statement from her media aide Chima Osuji at the weekend.

Patience described the fresh allegations by the EFCC as ‘falsehood aimed at hoodwinking the public’ and tainting the ex-first lady’s image, thereby making life tough for her because people talk about her in unfriendly terms everywhere she goes.

BBC Reports: Nigeria seizes $800,000 in ‘anti-corruption raids’ on judges

Nigeria’s security agency says it has seized $800,000 (£645,200) in cash in raids targeting senior judges suspected of corruption.

The DSS agency says the raids were carried out in recent days and several judges were arrested.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) accused the authorities of carrying out a “Gestapo-style” operation, demanding the release of those arrested.

Judges in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday abandoned their various duty posts to protest last weekend’s arrest of their colleagues in different parts of the country on allegations of corruption.

Soldiers says “they got N13m from ransom paid for Emefiele’s Wife”

Two soldiers, Lance Corporals Musa Maidabra and Edwin George, serving at 122D30 Regiment in Maiduguri, Borno State, have been arrested for transporting the ransom that was paid for the release of the wife of the Central Bank Governor, Margaret Emefiele.

Emefiele and three others were abducted along Benin-Agbor Road about two weeks ago and were released 24 hours later after the payment of undisclosed amount to their abductors.

The two soldiers said they received N6.5m each as their share of the ransom estimated to be around N80m.

Report says It's Worse to Be a Girl in U.S. Than Kazakhstan

The report compiled by Save the Children suggested Sweden was the best place for young females to live. Niger finished at the bottom. The U.S. was rated 32nd on the 144-country list.

Expect Price Of Rice To Fall By November - Federal Government

The Federal Government has declared that the price of rice would start to fall from November this year. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said this in Abuja yesterday while addressing members of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.
