OPINION: John Paden’s book on president Muhammadu Buhari and his dirty little lies

Professor John Paden, President Muhammadu Buhari’s official biographer, is a man that is very comfortable with distorting the truth and telling lies. He is also a man that has been doing so for virtually all his adult life.

Anyone that doubts that should read his biography on the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, which was written in 1986 and titled “Ahmadu Bello, Saurdana of Sokoto: Values and Leadership In Nigeria”, and which is essentially a self-serving and comprehensive compilation of Bello’s numerous virtues with little or no mention of his many vices. I read that book twenty years ago and I placed it in the “light entertainment” shelf in my library because it lacked gravitas or any real intellectual stamina.

We all know that too little  sleep is bad for you, however this study, suggest that too much sleep is also unhealthy.

According  to researchers from the University  of California, those who sleep for long hours between 9 to 10 hours a night seem to have more issues, ranging from difficulty  in falling asleep,  staying asleep, plus a whole lot of other problems.

Germany pledges 47.6million Euros support to Nigeria

The German government has said that it has earmarked €47.6 million to support Nigeria in the 2016 technical cooperation, programmes and special project initiatives.

According to a statement on Thursday the 6th of October from the Ministry of Budget and National Planning in Abuja, the news of Germany’s support for Nigeria was announced by Mrs. Renate Von Boddien, the leader of the German delegation, at a meeting of Nigeria- Germany consultations on development cooperation.

The statement which was signed by the Ministry’s Director of Information, Adedeji Ajibade, reported Boddien as saying that the decision by the German government to provide support to Nigeria was designed to tackle the root causes of displacement.

Ogun Police Command on Thursday said more than 5,000 security personnel would be deployed during elections into the 20 local government and 37 local council development areas on Saturday.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ilyasu, disclosed this in Abeokuta at a stakeholders’ meeting organised ahead of the Oct. 8 council polls.

Ilyasu warned that the police would ‘’deal decisively’’ with anyone who conducted him or herself in a manner capable of disrupting the election process.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed a motion to withdraw the charge of criminal conspiracy against Senate President Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

An affidavit in support of the motion was filed before the High Court of Federal Capital Territory on Thursday by a litigation officer from the Federal Ministry of Justice, Odubu Loveme.

Messrs. Saraki and Ekweremadu, as well as a former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa, and a former Deputy clerk, Ben Efeturi, were first arraigned before Justice Yusuf Halilu on June 10, 2016 via charge No. CR/219/16.
