Say What | In Ugandan, You now pay to Listen to Radio

Ugandans are set to start paying to listen to radios, the way it is with televisions.

According to Chimpreports, Uganda officially migrated to digital from analogue in June last year, a process that requires TV set owners to purchase digital terrestrial decoders installed on their sets to receive digital signals.

Addressing broadcasters during the National Association of Broadcasters Annual General Meeting at Hotel Africana, Uganda Communications Commission Executive Director, Godfrey Mutabazi, said that in 2 years’ time, the country will move from analogue to digital radios.

A 40-year-old fake female street beggar, Mrs. Chinagoro Uwenke who uses her son to beg for alms have been arrested by operatives of Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Task Force) at Oshodi.

Speaking to newsmen after her arrest, the Chairman of the Task Force, Olayinka Egbeyemi, said Chinagoro after she was interrogated, said she bandaged her son’s leg with two rolls of white bandage and poured GV blue ink on the leg every day in order to deceive members of the public to give alms to him.

On Wednesday in the Gwagwalada area of federal capital territory, Abuja, a middle-aged man, identified as Daniel, was beaten and stripped na.ked by some set of angry mob for allegedly snatching a woman’s handbag.

According to a report by DailyTrust, a witness disclosed that the incident happened in the morning at the SDP Junction, adding that the suspect followed the woman who carried a baby on her back on a motorcycle after she withdrew money from a bank in the area.

Police warns IPOB: We won’t allow you break down law and order

The Rivers and Anambra states commands of the Nigeria Police Force have warned the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to stop plans of carrying out their protest scheduled for September 23 (today).

IPOB had planned to protest the continuous detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu and has called for restricted movement throughout the S/South and S/East.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has declined to annul the election of Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson. ‎The court in a judgment delivered today declined the appeal for annulment of Seriake's election which was filed by the former governor of the state and APC candidate during the state election, Timipre Sylva. The election held on December 5th, 2015 while a rerun held on January 9th this year.
