Alerts! Fraudsters using Ogoni Cleanup To defraud unsuspecting Public – FG

The Federal Government has warned the public to beware as fraudsters are using the Ogoniland cleanup to extort money from unsuspecting people from people of the Niger Delta.

This is contained in a statement issued by Alhaji Isiaka Yusuf, the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Environment,on Monday.

Osun State | Government tax N700 on each Slaughtered Cow

The Osun State Government on Monday announced that butchers in the state would henceforth pay N700 as a levy for every cow slaughtered for sale in the state.

The announcement followed a decision reached a meeting between the state government and Osun Cattle Butchers Association in Osogbo.

Mr Wale Adedoyin, a consultant to the state government, who represented it at the meeting, told newsmen that the levy was introduced to boost the internally-generated revenue of the state.

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode is leading other Governors in the ongoing poll organised by the African Leadership Magazine to determine Nigeria’s top performing Governor.

The poll, tagged ‘Good Governance Polls for Nigeria’s Top Performing Governor’ started two weeks ago with Governor Ambode maintaining the lead with increased 36.1 percent of the total vote casts, while Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State closely trailed with 25 percent.

Budget Padding | APC Summons Jibrin over His allegations against Dogara And Others

The National Leadership of APC yesterday wrote a letter to embattled former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, summoning him to appear before it at the National Secretariat of the party today August 2nd.

Jibrin has continued his media campaign against the House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, three principal officers and nine other lawmakers, accusing them of budget padding and corruption.

Ali Modu Sheriff says Anenih No Longer PDP Bot Member

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, has said that a former Minister of Works, Chief Tony Anenih is no longer a member of Board of Trustees of the party.

It said Anenih voluntarily resigned from the Board instead of responding to the query issued to him for alleged anti-party activities in 2015.

Anenih, a former chairman of the Board was queried for alleged anti-party activities in Imo State in 2015, but instead of replying the query, he said he was resigning from the Board.

Argentina appoint Bauza as coach

Argentina has appointed former international Edgardo Bauza as head coach, filling the void left by Gerardo Martino.

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed that a man chopped off the hand of a member of his extended family over land dispute.

The suspect, Mr Jude Boroh, had allegedly attacked Morgan Ekure, a civil servant with the Delta State government, with a cutlass.

The spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Celestina Kalu confirmed the incident which happened in Emevor, Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.

A 34-year-old Kenyan man allegedly chopped off the hands of his wife of seven years with a large knife because she cannot have children, in what is said to be the most atrocious cases of domestic violence.

28-year-old Jackline Mwende from Kathama Village, Masii in Machakos County, had her hands chopped off at the wrist by her husband, Stephen Ngila Thenge (right) on July 24. 

She is also nursing injuries on her head and neck from the gruesome attack. Relatives say the couple had been having issues and Ms Mwende wanted to leave her husband but was advised against it by "their pastor"
