The Presidency has lashed out at Dr Junaid Mohammed, a member of the Defence Committee in the Second Republic for accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of nepotism.

The Presidency lashed out at Dr Junaid via a rejoinder signed by Chief Okoi Obono-obla, Special Assistant to the President on Prosecution.

Police arrest Fake doctor over nasty abortion

A 26-year-old man has been arrested after conducting a life-threatening abortion on a woman in Ibadan.

According to punch, the culprit, Akilapa Johnson, was said to have performed an abortion for 23-year-old Barakat when he had no formal training as a medical doctor.

The State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, said Johnson lured Barakat to abort a five-month-old pregnancy which resulted in serious complications.

Whatever you say it is; it is and a lot worse. First, the most influential person in the Presidency today is one Mamman Daura whom as you know, is a nephew of the President. His father was Buhari’s elder brother. In addition, Mamman Daura was the one who single-handedly brought up Abba Kyari, the current Chief of Staff to the President.

Fire destroys Property worth Millions In Sokoto Market

A popular market in Sokoto locally known as Kasuwa Dan-Jabalu was, Sunday night, gutted by fire which destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira at the old market in Sokoto.

According to NAN reports, the fire started about 10.00pm and lasted for about three hours before it was put off by combined efforts of firemen, traders and Good Samaritans, including Gov. Aminu Tambuwal.

Amnesty says it has ‘credible evidence’ Turkish police are holding detainees in stress positions for up to 48 hours, denying them food, water and medical treatment and in the worst cases some have been subjected to severe beatings and torture, including rape.

John Dalhuisen, Amnesty International’s Europe director, said:

Minister of Sports summons AFN, FEAD staff over ticket scandal

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has summoned the Secretary, Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Olumide Bamiduro, to explain the ticket scandal that rocked the social media at the weekend.

A statement by the minster’s Special Adviser on Media, Nneka Anibeze, said on Sunday in Lagos that the ministry’s staff of the Federation of Elite Athletes Department (FEAD) was also summoned.

It will be recalled that a mail purportedly written by the AFN secretary had asked athletes to send an estimate of what their ticket to Rio may cost.
