Abdulmumin Jibrin releases more details of the alleged budget padding by Dogara, others

In a statement he released last night, Jibrin gave a detailed account of how the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and some other principal officers of the House of Representatives allegedly hijacked the budget consideration process so as to pad it. In this statement, Jibrin alleged that Dogara and the house leadership had resorted to using some elements of the Nigeria police to kidnap, harass, blackmail and intimidate him into silence.

Fire destroys Property worth Millions In Sokoto Market

A popular market in Sokoto locally known as Kasuwa Dan-Jabalu was, Sunday night, gutted by fire which destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira at the old market in Sokoto.

According to NAN reports, the fire started about 10.00pm and lasted for about three hours before it was put off by combined efforts of firemen, traders and Good Samaritans, including Gov. Aminu Tambuwal.

The market is reputed for selling clothing materials, foot wears and jewelry, as well as an exchange of foreign currencies.

Minister of Sports summons AFN, FEAD staff over ticket scandal

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has summoned the Secretary, Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Olumide Bamiduro, to explain the ticket scandal that rocked the social media at the weekend.

A statement by the minster’s Special Adviser on Media, Nneka Anibeze, said on Sunday in Lagos that the ministry’s staff of the Federation of Elite Athletes Department (FEAD) was also summoned.

BREAKING | Shooting in Florida: 2 Dead, at Least 14 Others Wounded

At least two people were killed and more than a dozen others injured in a shooting outside of a Florida nightclub early Monday, officials said.

According to NBC News, the gunshots were fired in the parking lot of Club Blu in Fort Myers at around 12:30 a.m. ET.

Fort Myers Police Department said in a statement that "at least 14-16 people" were wounded in the shooting, with their injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening. NBC station WBBH reported that both of those killed were male.
