Sitting President or Government who commits any crime can be Arrested - Femi Falana
Femi Falana says a sitting president or governor who commits any crime can be arrested and tried, saying according to the Supreme Court ruling, there was no longer absolute immunity. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said immunity does not extend to electoral fraud and asked Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu to face the forgery charges against them rather than politicking about it, saying “they have no immunity to dodge the charges against them.’’.

In Bauchi State: Two men arrested for killing a female antelope in Yankari Game Reserve
These two men; Halilu Adamu and Bala Garba were caught by Rangers yesterday at the Yankari National Park - a large wildlife park located in Bauchi State. According to the Management of the Reserve, they killed and slaughtered a female roan antelope and are notorious elephant poachers. Garba (right) was arrested in May 2015 for a similar crime and was sentenced to 6 months in jail, but he, however, returned back to the reserve this year to continue the illegal killing.

Gideon Aremu a Member of Oyo state House of Assembly assassinated
A member of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Gideon Aremu, was assassinated by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Alakia, Egbeda Local government area in Oyo state yesterday July 1st at about 11pm.
According to family sources, three gunmen had trailed the car of the lawmaker and followed him to his house where they opened fire on him as he came down from his vehicle. He was rushed to Toun Hospital along Iwo road where he was confirmed dead. Th spokesperson of the Oyo state police command confirmed the incident and said the police was on the trail of the assassins.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Saturday, July 2, arrested Ayodeji Ijitola, 32, along Ikorodu Road while driving a motorcycle (Okada) on a footbridge made for pedestrians at Irawo bus stop. Apart from riding Okada on a footbridge, he was also driving in a restricted area where Okadas are banned. The police and everybody there was shocked by the effrontery. His Okada has been impounded and transferred with the suspect to Taskforce for prosecution.

A commercial mini-bus, a Toyota Picnic with number plate KTU 175 DZ, crushed two children of the same parents to death on Friday in Ita Oshin area, Abeokuta, Ogun State while they were on their way to school.
The accident, according to an eyewitness, occurred at about 8am.
The deceased were female twins, named Adijat and Mutmainat Edunjobi, and they were eight years old.
It was gathered that the bus driver, Adewale Ojo, who was speeding, lost control, ran over the pupils, killing them instantly and injuring their 14-year-old brother.
The bus was said to be coming from Sango-Ota, Ogun State to Abeokuta when the incident occurred.

NURTW Executive Arrested for Abducting and R*ping Woman Overnight in Oyo
The vice-chairman of Gbagi branch of the NURTW, Oyo State, Alhaji Saheed Tijani aka ‘Omo Olomo’, was arrested yesterday by the Oyo State police command for r*ping a 28-year-old woman.
Tijani and his cohorts allegedly abducted the victim, Abosede, around 9 pm on Monday, April 4, 2016, while returning home from work. The state Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, disclosed Abosede was subdued by the men who threatened her with a knife, The Nation reports.
He went on to say: “Having successfully threatened her to submission, she was abducted in the most brazen, commando-like manner and forcibly taken to an hotel where she was drugged and subsequently mercilessly r*ped till the next day. Tijani has since confessed to the crime.

Commotion In Lagos After Customs Officers Killed Trader During Negotiation Over Contraband Goods
Panic erupted at the Badagry Roundabout, Lagos State when hoodlums took to the street to protest the death of a suya seller who was allegedly killed by customs officers on Wednesday. The victim, Samuel Apase, was shot after an altercation with the officers which arose during payment negotiations after the officers seized a Totoya Camry he allegedly used to smuggle bags of rice and frozen foods from Seme. The customs officers reportedly opened fire on Apase, killing him and injuring a number of passersby hit by their stray bullets.
An eyewitness at the scene, Adeleke Adesiji, stated that the incident enraged hoodlums in the area who took to the streets to smash the windscreen of a patrol van used by the officers who fled the scene. The injured victims were rushed to the Badagry General Hospital and Apase’s corpse was deposited at the morgue, Punch reports.

The founder of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, Dr Fredrick Fasehun, has charged Nigerians to stop complaining about the present economic hardship in the country since it was them that voted for change.
