Custom Comptroller-General refute claims that his officers are exacting money from job seekers

The Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Services, NIS, in Cross River State, Mrs Funke Cecilia Adeuyi, has denied rumours that Immigration personnel in the command were extorting money from members of the public for job placement.
She denied the report while noting that about 730 illegal immigrants have been repatriated from the state this year.

She said, “From all I know nobody has come to me with such report. But we have been hearing rumours of fraudsters who hide under the canopy claiming to be immigration staff collecting money from people.

NYSC DG debunks rumour that the scheme has been scrap

Brig.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has debunked rumours making the rounds that the one-year national youth service scheme has been scrapped.

Kazure disclosed this during a visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau on Monday.

He explained that the purpose of the scheme was for national integration, a key in building a better Nigeria and urged the people to desist from peddling such rumours.

The D-G, who described the rumours as fabrications, called on the batch “A’’ stream of the scheme to embrace the NYSC skill acquisition programme.

30,000 Americans Lives in Nigeria while 300,000 Nigerians live in U.S – Envoy

The outgoing United States Deputy Consul-General in Lagos, Ms Dehab Ghebreab, on Monday said about 300,000 Nigerians currently live in different parts of the U.S.

Ghebreab told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the number of Nigerians in America is increasing.

She added that about 30,000 Americans currently live in Nigeria.

Michelle Obama and Her Daughters Arrives Liberia

First, Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama landed in Liberia on Monday with her daughters and her mother for an overseas trip promoting education for girls, starting with a country recovering from the recent Ebola epidemic.

The Obamas were welcomed in Liberia's capital with a red carpet and traditional dancers wearing the red, white and blue colours of both the American and Liberian flags. They also will visit Morocco and Spain.

Paris Saint-Germain sack Coach Laurent Blanc

The French club, Paris Saint-Germain have announced that head coach Laurent Blanc has left the club after three years in charge.

His departure will not come as a surprise after his agent revealed a week ago that Blanc was on his way out. Despite securing consecutive Ligue 1 titles for the club, the club’s hierarchy expected more from the team in the UEFA champions league after two disappointing Quarterfinal exits.

Sources say the club management are already in talks with former Sevilla manager Unai Emery and he will soon  be announced as the new head coach.

Soldiers arrest two in Delta over Pipeline Vandelism

OLEH—SOLDIERS from the 222 Battalion of  the Nigerian Army, have arrested two persons in Idheze community, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, following the suspected vandalization of a major Nigeria Agip Oil Company, NAOC, a pipeline in the area. 

It will be recalled that the pipeline was allegedly vandalized in the early hours June 13, 20l6 with the resultant oil spill causing a heavy fire outbreak which led to the destruction of farmlands and economic crops in the community.

Amaju Pinnick, the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), on Sunday in Ibadan said the Super Eagles would have a substantive Head Coach within the next two weeks.

Pinnick told newsmen that the football body was working assiduously to ensure they got a new head coach for the Super Eagles, urging Nigerians to hope for the best. 

The NFF President was in Ibadan to watch a 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match. 

The NPFL Match Day 24 fixture between hosts Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and FC IfeanyiUbah Football Club ended in a 2-2 draw.

According to police in Florida, three teen has been arrested for stealing the car of the mayor of a city.

Sanford police said that they have arrested 18-year-old Jermine Jacques Horne and 17-year-old Demarcus Paige, after they were accused of stealing the car belonging to Mayor Jeff Triplett.

The third suspect is still at large. Horne was charged with armed carjacking, aggravated assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Iceland Fan splashes £140,000 just to hire a jet to see their match with England today

Gretar Sigfinnur Sigurdarson has splashed out an estimated £140,000 to hire a Boeing 737 jet so he can get to tonight's match with England. The plane chartered from Luxair leaves Reykjavik today and returns from Nice immediately after the match

He wrote on his Facebook page: "I have rented a plane for 180 passengers to Nice in France.

"It will be a return trip on the day. We leave early in the morning and return in the evening, just after the game.”

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in Scotland was called for help after a group of birds were seen on the beach and flying away with women’s underwear.

The latest incidents of underwear theft occurred in Angus Glens, where birds have a history of stealing unsuspecting swimmers’ underwear.

Gamekeeper Dave Clement was amused to find that a pair of red underpants, pants and socks was stolen from a nearby swimming spot.
