Imo State: Amass tension as Soldiers murder man over N300k

There is palpable tension in an oil-rich community in the Ohaji/Egbema Council Area of Imo State after a young man was brutally murdered by some soldiers attached to the oil facilities in the Etekwuru Autonomous community, over the sum of N300,000, allegedly misappropriated by the deceased.

Reports have it that the young man, a 26-year-old man, Declan Obi, was reported to the soldiers by his boss, Evans Njemanze, over the missing money after he was suspected to have stolen the money, being proceeds from the sales for the day.

Abia State: Armed robbering kingpin shot dead in a police shoot-out

One of the most notorious armed robbery and kidnapping kingpins in Abia State has been gunned down in a shootout with the police.

According to the Vanguard, Onye Army was one of the most notorious crime lord who had been terrorising the city and was shot dead near the Good Morning Market area after his gang had robbed a victim of N3.5 million, which he withdrew from one of the new generation banks along Azikiwe Road.

The police report that after the gang robbed the man, they made to escape through the market when they saw a stationary police van. They alighted from their car and riddled the van with bullets, not knowing that there was no police officer in the vehicle as they had laid an ambush waiting for them.

The Lagos State government, yesterday, sealed 53 churches, mosques and hotels across the metropolis over noise pollution and other environmental nuisances.

General Manager of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, Engr. Adebola Shabi in an interview after sealing the religious houses and the hotels said that the premises were shut following complaints from the residents.

He lamented that the premises shut were approved for residential but after few years, they have converted worship centres, saying “It has been constituting a nuisance to other neighbours.”

Their position was con­tained in a statement issued to newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Thursday, wherein they told the public to disregard any publication or claim of association between them and the NDA.

The accident occurred yesterday before the Kaduna toll gate while coming from Abuja. All the occupants (4) died and their bodies were trapped in the mangled car.

An eye witness Sani Yauri said the driver was on high speed and lost control when he maneuvered a pitch hole. He hit a machine and then hit a parked vehicle.

A jealous husband has killed his wife before jumping to his death in a murder-suicide. The man identified as Reuben Mnisi allegedly killed his wife, Puleng Mnisi during an argument.

According to Daily Sun, the man later threw himself off a crane and plunged 40 metres to his death.

Narrating the incident, Puleng’s mother, Susan Mahlatse 60, from Sebokeng in the Vaal, said Reuben 42, and Puleng 35, lived in the same kasi and both worked at a mine.

Susan said on Friday Puleng arrived at work for the night shift and Reuben was about to go home.
