Lagos State to commmence $1.5bn Badagry port construction in September

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, yesterday, said construction  of the planned $1.5 billion Badagry Deep Seaport will commence in 2 months. This came barely 6 days after the consortium for the project expected to be the largest deep sea port in Africa emerged.

The Governor disclosed this when he led a team to inspect various developmental projects such as; the ongoing expansion works on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway into 10 lanes, Badagry Deep Seaport, among others.

He said:

One of the four Lekki bank robbery suspects has taken the Nigerian Police Force to court, asking for N1million damages for alleged unlawful detention. In a suit at the Ikeja High Court in Lagos, Ebi Tosan prayed that the police be directed to release him on bail.

Respondents in the suit are Lagos State Commissioner of Police and the Officer-in-Charge of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Ikeja.

Tosan, 20, was paraded by the police with Duke Odogbo, 38, Lawrence Kingsley, 31, and Ekelemo Kuete, 30 in connection with the March 12 robbery of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) in Lekki, Lagos.

Report reaching us says a female suicide bomber this morning detonated a bomb at a predominantly Muslim settlement in Damaturu, Yobe state. 

As the time of the report, three people have been killed from the blast.

President Buhari sued over bailout to states

Really? I thought President Buhari helping some states who where not able to carter for their needs anymore was a welcome development, never knew it was not constitutional and illegal thats according to Hon Iduma-Enwo.

A member of the House of Representatives, Igariwey Iduma-Enwo, has approached an Abuja Federal High Court to challenge the decision of  Buhari to rescue states in the country with a bailout of N713.7 billion.

In suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1022/15, which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker from Ebonyi State filed on Wednesday, Iduma-Enwo is seeking to know whether Buhari has powers under the 1999 Constitution to give the bailout without the approval of the National Assembly.

Nigerian man jailed in the UK over online romance scam

Tosin Olasemo a 27 year old Nigerian has been sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison by a UK court after he was found guilty of impersonating a US soldier fighting in Afghanistan to scam two white women he met on a dating site of £250,000, report says.

Tosin, who lives in Cardiff, UK, set up a profile on match.com using the photo of an unidentified US soldier in uniform, to trick his victims into believing he was serving in Afghanistan. He called himself Captain Morgan Travis to his first victim, and Michael Travis to his second victim and claimed to be based at Camp Joyce but he was actually living in Moira Street in the Adamsdown area of Cardiff.

During online conversations with his first victim, 47-year-old widow Tine Jorgensen, Tosin could see her via her webcam but he refused to show his own face, saying he was not allowed to show his own face because of security issues in Afghanistan, an explanation which looked genuine and acceptable.

Governor Ortom warns homosexuals to Stay away from Benue State

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State asked homosexuals to stay away from the state, warning that his administration would not spare anyone caught practicing it in the state while playing host to the Prelate of the Anglican Communion of Nigeria, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh, in Makurdi yesterday.

Breakthrough! Corp Member develop data management system for NYSC

A 25 year old graduate of computer science and Batch B corps member, Onyeka Kelvin Onyema, is presently being celebrated after developing a digital software for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Surulere, Lagos to help in their data management system.

Onyeka state code number, LA/14B/3303, according to further report served in Surulere Local Government Area, where he devised a computer program that captures the personal information, pictures and profiles of all corps members serving in the area.

Onyema revealed that he came up with the program to reduce the time spent on flipping through heaps of old files before one could access information on corps members. He said the software guarantees that no data gets lost to system errors by making multiple back-ups of all files.

Kaduna state Governor Nasir El Rufai announced yesterday through a press statement that he has sacked 20 permanent secretaries from Kaduna State civil service and has appointed new officials to fill some positions in his government.

“In line with its resolve to cut the cost of running government, the Kaduna State Government has announced the retirement of 20 permanent secretaries. This decision follows the streamlining of ministries in the state from 19 to a leaner 13, as part of efforts to free up resources to be used for providing schools, hospitals, roads and other public goods.

Okay let me be a bit sentimental here, seriously, I love this guy called Eminem, when it comes to rap music, he has been in the game for so long and still he his hanger in there. So seeing the letter he penned to Tupac's Mum gave me that smile of the real slim shaddy *winks*

Rapper DMX Sentenced to Six Months in Jail

Earl Simmons, better known by his stage names DMX has been sentenced to six months in jail for failing to pay child support. He was sentenced on Tuesday night in Buffalo, New York, and has already been placed in custody.

The troubled rapper was arrested last month before a performance at Radio City Music Hall for unpaid child support, a robbery complaint and bail jumping.

Singer Nick Cave Son dies after falling from a Cliff

So sad! Australian musician and song writer Nick Cave's loses son after he reportedly fell from a cliff next to a beach in Brighton.

According to UK Evening Standard, Arthur Cave, 15, was left seriously injured after falling from cliffs at Ovingdean Gap yesterday afternoon. Police were called to the scene at about 6pm after reports that the teenager had fallen 60ft to the coastal path below. Passers-by rushed to give the boy first aid at the scene as they desperately tried to save his life.
