EFCC nabbed Son of Ex-Governor of Adamawa State

The Economic and Financial crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Abdul-Aziz Nyako, son of impeached governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako.

EFCC said the younger Nyako was arrested in Gombe, capital of Gombe state, and was immediately flown to Abuja “where he is currently being grilled by a crack team of detectives who had been working on the Adamawa investigation for several months”.

A statement issued Friday by Wilson Uwujaren, head of media and publicity of the EFCC reads in part: “Abdul-Aziz, who was declared wanted by the EFCC in the case of stealing, abuse of office and money laundering, is currently telling investigators all he knows about illicit funds traced to companies where he has interest.

The relatives of Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston, who have been giving media interviews about her medical condition do not have direct knowledge of her treatment, her father's attorney said on Friday.

Singer Bobby Brown's attorney asked media outlets to stop speaking with family members unauthorized to discuss the condition of his daughter, who is being treated at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after she was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub at her suburban home last month.

Presidency Mulls Action Against PDP Governors Working For Opposition

There is apprehension in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) following rumours that four of its governors are working secretly for the opposition.

According to Saturday Vanguard, the Presidency is now convinced that the four governors were not sincerely working for the success of the ruling party after reviewing their activities in relations to the presidential campaigns in their respective states. The review showed that PDP would lose election in the affected states because of the activities of the governors.

Saturday Vanguard quoted a “competent source” in Abuja as saying that both Jonathan and his party were upset that the governors were hiding under the party to work for the APC, thereby making it difficult for them to be promptly dealt with in line with the constitution of the party.

The source revealed further to Vanguard, that although the action of the four governors drawn from the North West and North East of the country had been discussed extensively by the Presidency and the PDP, the party and the president is being careful about taking action because of the impending elections.

Boko Haram Top Leader "Captain" Arrested in Niger

The Nigerien military has reportedly arrested the mastermind of different attacks by Boko Haram in Niger’s Diffa region which is near the Nigerian border.

According to Niger's Anfani private radio station, the sect member identified as Kaka Bounou, was a trader based in Diffa and goes by the alias, Captain, within the sect group. He'd been arrested several times in the past and released. 

West Ham Andy Carroll Out of the Season with a Crucial Knee Injury

Andy Carroll's troublesome knees have curtailed yet another season, as he gets set for surgery next week.

West Ham are set to be without Andy Carroll for the rest of the season as he gets set to undergo knee surgery.

Carroll sustained the injury during West Ham's 0-0 draw at Southampton on Wednesday, but remained on the field until the end of the game.

The striker was seen leaving St Mary's Stadium on crutches, and manager Sam Allardyce was initially quoted as saying he would be out for at least four weeks.

Report: Boko Haram launches first deadly attack in Chad

Nigeria-based Boko Haram fighters have carried out their first attack inside Chad, killing five people in an early morning strike on a village and military camp on the shores of Lake Chad, a security source has said.

Friday's pre-dawn attack left four civilians and one soldier dead and most of the village of Ngouboua torched before the fighters were pushed back, the source told the AFP news agency on condition of anonymity.

The attackers struck after crossing the lake from Nigeria's Baga in large canoes and set ablaze nearly two-thirds of Ngouboua - about 20km east of the Nigerian border - where around 7,000 Nigerians have taken refuge.

Breaking News: Kidnapped Plateau ex-gov Dariye’s father rescue Soldiers (UPDATED)

Men of the Special Task Force have rescued Pa Dariye Defwan, father of former governor of Plateau state, Chief Joshua Dariye.

The police confirmed his release on Friday in a telephone interview with PREMIUM TIMES in Jos.

According to the police spokesperson in Plateau State, Abuh Emmanuel, four persons were arrested in connection with the abduction.

Mr. Dariye’s father was kidnapped last Saturday night at his village in Mushere, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau state. Police had said the victim was abducted by nine suspects.

Nigeria Flying Eagles head to Ghana for double friendly

According to Premium Times, the Nigeria U20 team, the Flying Eagles, will depart for Ghana Friday from Lagos as they take on their Ghanaian counterparts; the Black Satellites in a two-legged friendly.

Already, a list of 22 players has been released by the technical crew of the Flying Eagles, for the two warm-up games against the Black Satellites.

Police AIG Mbu: "We’ll kill 20 for each police life lost during elections"

From Premium Times comes this report that, the newly posted Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Joseph Mbu, on Thursday declared that the elections in his zone will be “fire for fire” if politicians play any pranks.

The controversial police boss made the declaration at a meeting with police of the Ogun State Command at its Eleweran Headquarters, Abeokuta.

Mr. Mbu instructed his men to be battle-ready for the election and warned politicians to have a second thought over any planned criminal act.
