Scarlett Johansson splits from Romain Dauriac after 2 years of marriage


Hollywood actress, Scarlett Johansson, 32, was pictured in New York City on Wednesday morning without her wedding ring. The pair have a two-year-old daughter Rose Dorothy.

They were last pictured together in October at the opening of their gourmet popcorn store, Yummy Pop, in Paris. However, insiders tell People magazine that 'they've been separated since the summer.'

The actress began dating Romain in 2012 and they got engaged in 2013.

MASSOB condemn Obasanjo' support for Igbo presidency


The Leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has berated former President Olusegun Obasanjo for rooting for an Igbo Presidency in 2019.

The group said Obasanjo’s comment was “jittery.”

Recall that the former President had on Tuesday called for the next President of Nigeria to come from the South East.

Obasanjo had said, “Irrespective of the thinking of the people ahead of 2019, I personally think that South East should have a go at the Presidency too.”

ASUP announces one-week nationwide strike


The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), on Wednesday, announced that it would embark on a nationwide one-week warning strike.

The union says it had already directed its members in all public polytechnics across the federation to fully comply.

Usman Dutse, ASUP president, made this known during a press conference in Abuja.

Dutse noted that all academic and administrative activities in Nigeria’s public polytechnics are to be suspended from 12 noon on January 30, to February 6, 2017.

There are 1.1bn smokers in the world – 226m of them live in poverty


The world has 1.1 billion smokers aged 15 and above – and approximately 226 million of them live in poverty – a new report by the World Health Organisation has shown.

The research, which was published in ‘The economics of tobacco and tobacco control’, was carried out in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute of the United States of America.
“The tobacco industry and the deadly impact of its products cost the world’s economies more than US$ 1 trillion annually in healthcare expenditures and lost productivity,” said the report.

President Trump defends restricted entry for Muslims


US President Donald Trump said late Wednesday that his plan to limit the entry of people from several Muslim countries was necessary because the world is “a total mess”.

Interviewed on ABC News, Trump denied that it was a ban on Muslims.
“No it’s not the Muslim ban, but it’s countries that have tremendous terror,” Trump said.
“And it’s countries that people are going to come in and cause us tremendous problems. Our country has enough problems without allowing people to come in, who in many cases or in some cases, are looking to do tremendous destruction.”

Chinese Restaurant Exposed For Serving Human Feet To Diners


A Chinese restaurant has been accused of serving human feet after a waiter posted a gruesome picture – allegedly taken in its kitchen – on social media. The grim photo shows what looks like two severed and partially decomposed human feet in a blue bowl.

It surfaced after a diner went into the restaurant and asked for the Chinese delicacy of bear paws.

The waiter, who was not named in reports, claims his picture of human feet were the ‘bear paws’ that were later served to the diner and his friends.

Customer Storms Pizza Restaurant Only To Finds Staff 'Having Sex' In Back Room


A man who filmed himself walking around a deserted Pizza Hut has accused two staff members of having sex after discovering them together in a back room. A spokesperson for the pizza restaurant has since denied the claims made by Ace Brown after he went into the branch in Bristol on Tuesday evening and found it had no customers and apparently no staff either.

Baffled and then concerned, he posted videos for ten minutes on his Instagram account of him calling out 'hello!' into the backroom, before starting a 'Facebook Live' video as he went behind the counter and into the kitchen.

Northwest Reps says Nigerians can’t afford to lose Buhari in 2019


House of representatives members from the northwest geopolitical zone believe President Muhammadu Buhari should stay in office beyond 2019.

Speaking to journalists after a caucus meeting late Wednesday, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, leader of the group, said Buhari had achieved a lot, particularly in the area of security.

The lawmakers also passed a vote of confidence on the Buhari administration and the leadership of Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the lower chamber of the national assembly.

Police Inspector General denies traveling to London to visit Buhari


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Kputom Idris, has said he is in London on an official visit and not to ‘lead a high-powered police delegation to visit President Muhammadu Buhari.’

The IGP said this after news made the rounds of his visit, following rumours about the true state of health of the president.

Recall that Buhari left the country last Thursday for a 10-day vacation in the UK,  and unconfirmed reports cropped up at the weekend, in a section of the media that the President had passed on at the age of 74.

18-year-old student in court for stealing phone from mosque


An 18-year-old secondary school student, Muritala Adulfatai, who allegedly entered a mosque and stole a phone valued at N35,000, was on Thursday in Lagos released on a N10,000 bail.

Mr. Adulfatai, who entered a `not-guilty’ plea to the theft charge, is a resident of No. 5, Irelodun St., Agbado-Ijaiye, a Lagos suburb.

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court which gave the ruling, also asked the accused to produce one surety as part of the bail condition.

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello of Niger State has said he would sign the death warrant of anyone convicted of murder in the state.

This is as a result of the incessant killings and cases of insecurity in the Power State.

Client on sex-enhancing drugs beats prostitute to dead for getting tired

De Love Hotel where the incident happened
A sex worker, Janet Etim has died after she was attacked and beaten by her customer when she could not withstand a long drugged-induced sex in a hotel in Lagos.

The incident happened at a popular hotel called, De Love located at Ilufumi street, Ejigbo, Lagos.

According to P.M News, the unidentified customer went into Etim’s room to have short time sex with her for a fee. When the romp started, he was taking too long to ‘come’ and conclude the romp.

When Etim could no longer bear the pain, she withdrew and offered the customer his N500 fee but he refused and said he had already prepared for the action and will conclude it. This led to exchange of words and in the process, he attacked and injured her on her head.

Minister of Power explains why power supply is poor nationwide


Minister of Power Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola yesterday explained why there is poor power supply in the country.

He spoke to State House reporters after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

The FEC meeting approved the upward review of the contract for the completion of the Odogunyan transmission substation in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The contract, which was awarded in 2009 and abandoned due to lack of funds, was reviewed by N274.3 million to N3.5 billion.
