Here are ten facts about the 21 Chibok girls released today.
1: 21 out of 218 have been released today (Thursday) October 13, 2016 .
2: They were abducted by terrorist Boko Haram group in their school dormitory beds in April 2014.
3: Their release is part of a deal brokered by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Swiss government with the terrorist group and presidency said negotiations for the release of the remaining girls are still on.
4: A close Presidency source said no jailed Boko Haram fighter was exchanged for the girls.
5: The girls are in the custody of the Department of State service, DSS and the agency’s Director General, Malam Daura has briefed President Buhari of the development.
6: The names of the released girls are yet to be announced.
7: The girls are currently resting from the tedious journey back home.
8: The Presidency spokesman on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said the girls would be handed over to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
